Position Overview
Our Montreal, QC client is seeking a Production Supervisor who will serve as first-line supervisor of a small sized group of hourly employees in a parts distribution center / materials warehouse. Responsible for prompt shipment and/or receipt of parts by efficient utilization of labour and equipment. Work consists of a number of involved clerical and manual operations with decisions made within the limits of general practices and procedures. Volume of work serves as a check on productivity.
Job Responsibilities :
- Promotes safety and good housekeeping practices utilizing safety management system
- Maintain awareness of quality standards, communicate department quality goals and leverage resources to solve quality issues
- Maintains prompt shipment and short lead time flow receiving.
- Maintains records to track and improve departmental performance
- Trains, develops and evaluates employees
- Keeps abreast of parts distribution center performance reports and costs
- Understands and consistently administers policies and procedures
- Motivate, train and develop employees to effectively perform their jobs utilizing standardized methods
- Responsible for meeting production schedules, product quality requirements and personnel allocation
- Participates in forward planning activities, maintains departmental Business Plan Deployment (BPD) boards, continuously improve team performance in all aspects of the business.
- The supervisor will be rotating on both day shift and afternoon shift. Needs to be open to both shifts.
- Two shifts: Morning (6:00 AM – 2:30 PM): Focused on inbound operations, including part replacement, preparing for the evening shift, and cleaning up from the previous night. Afternoon (starts at 3:30 PM): Primarily focused on picking operations, with a structured schedule and a defined cutoff time for orders.
Skills :
- Must be fluently Bilingual (verbal and written in English and French). This is an absolute requirement.
- College degree and/or equivalent work experience
- Microsoft 360: Basic proficiency required.
- High level of interpersonal skills to work effectively with others, motivate employees and elicit work output
- Proficiency in team building and demonstrated ability to manage a warehouse utilizing lean principles of waste elimination and continuous improvements.
- Must be able to handle high-stress situations and help stabilize operations when needed.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively organize and plan
- Warehouse background helpful
