CGI Montréal is looking for a Software Architect to design, evolve, and modernize our organization's application solutions. Working closely with multidisciplinary teams, you will help define high-performing, secure, and scalable architectures while influencing the technology directions that support CGI’s growth, innovation, and digital transformation, as well as that of its clients.
In this role, you will be responsible for analyzing functional and non-functional requirements, including performance, security, maintainability, integration, availability, and operability. You will have the opportunity to propose solutions for complex environments, including modern Web applications, API and microservices architectures, .NET systems, SQL databases, and legacy components. Vos fonctions et responsabilités
- Understand the organization’s strategic direction, business needs, operational constraints, technology challenges, and current systems landscape to propose robust, scalable architectures aligned with transformation objectives
- Act as a trusted advisor to business stakeholders, including product teams, development teams, architecture and security teams, infrastructure teams, and data teams
- Evolve the target architecture of application solutions, ensuring consistency between functional requirements, non-functional requirements, technology standards, and enterprise directions
- Design efficient and high-performing software architectures for modern Web applications and API-based architectures
- Develop modernization, migration, integration, and system evolution strategies, including Microsoft .NET environments, ASP.NET applications, Windows services, and related hosting platforms
- Build technical solution prototypes and validate technical feasibility
- Evaluate technology options, recommend architectural decisions, and document key design choices, including trade-offs among cost, timelines, quality, security, performance, maintainability, interoperability, and scalability
- Provide technical leadership to development teams by promoting software design best practices, code quality, continuous integration, automation, and observability
- Promote architecture standards, principles, patterns, frameworks, and development practices across all solutions, particularly for APIs, microservices, data access, and integration
- Participate in architecture reviews and code reviews
- Identify major technical risks, propose mitigation measures, and support their implementation
- Anticipate market technology trends and identify innovation opportunities to improve solution performance, efficiency, scalability, and user experience
- Contribute to project planning, including effort estimation, dependency identification, technical prioritization, and the definition of evolution roadmaps
Qualifications requises pour réussir dans ce rôle
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent experience
- Minimum of 10–15 years of experience in Information Technology, including several years in software architecture, solution architecture, or a similar role
- Significant experience developing complex, mission-critical, or large-scale systems
- Excellent understanding of the full application lifecycle
- Deep knowledge of modern Web application architecture, including performance, security, maintainability, and integration considerations
- Strong expertise in API-based architectures, microservices, application services, and distributed systems
- Expertise in the Microsoft ecosystem, including C#, ASP.NET, ASP.NET MVC, Entity Framework, LINQ, SQL Server, IIS, Windows Services, and Windows Server environments
- Good understanding of ASP.NET environments, including WebForms, and the challenges involved in modernizing to newer architectures
- Solid knowledge of front-end and Web technologies, including HTML, CSS, JavaScript, jQuery, XML, JSON, and integration principles for modern Web interfaces
- Strong SQL skills and understanding of relational database design and integration principles
- Good knowledge of Linux and containerized application environments
- Strong understanding of DevOps practices and CI/CD environments
- Good knowledge of application security principles, data protection, identity and access management, and applicable compliance requirements
- Ability to produce architecture documents, diagrams, roadmaps, technology assessments, impact analyses, proof-of-concept deliverables, and executive recommendations.
- Experience working in Agile environments
- Knowledge of hybrid mobile application architectures combining Web technologies and native mobile components is considered an asset
- Knowledge of Swift and Java in the context of mobile application design or integration is considered an asset
- Experience with cloud environments (Azure, AWS, etc.) is considered an asset
- Experience with Docker and/or Kubernetes is considered an asset
- Excellent communication skills in French (spoken and written) and functional English

CGI is providing a reasonable estimate of the pay range for this role. The determination of this range includes factors such as skill set level, geographic market, experience and training, and licenses and certifications. Compensation decisions depend on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is 80 $ et $. This role is an existing vacancy.
