Reporting to the Public Relations Manager, Canada, the SPRS is part journalist, part storyteller. The position plays a key role in growing, shaping and maintaining the company’s image in ways that promote our business, values, and mission. Working in tandem with marketing, digital and video teams, the SPRS provides vital support in creating and disseminating content for our external platforms, including social media, traditional media, and the company’s website. The SPRS has a passion for improving the Public Relations, Marketing and Communications team’s process and results, with an eye toward latest trends and best practices.

Vos principales responsabilités

Relations médias & recherche

  • Work closely with Public Relations Managers/Leads to foster and grow relationships with members of business and industry media at the local, regional, and national level, especially in Quebec and Atlantic Canada

  • Assist in identifying, researching, and developing targeted media materials (e.g., news releases, story pitches, etc.) as well as maintaining media databases to continuously strengthen our media outreach

  • Acts as a trusted PR advisor to regional leadership, providing counsel on media strategy and communications best practices

  • Proactively contact media members (jointly identified with the PR Managers) to communicate pertinent messages

  • Diligently monitor, measure, and report on the company’s media presence, offering recommendations on opportunities to advance coverage goals in strategic outlets.

  • Act as a key point of contact for media inquiries in the region, working closely with the PR Manager, work on any internal briefing necessary for the spokesperson.

  • Work with internal teams on any sensitive issues or crisis communications to ensure timely, appropriate handling and protect the company’s reputation.

  • Oversee updates to media training materials and support ongoing media training for spokespersons, including internal crisis tabletop simulations.

  • Under the supervision of the Public Relations Manager, gather materials and content for use on the company’s various social media platforms, including the Stantec blog, Stantec.com, and other social media platforms as needed

  • Track engagement data collaborating with managers to create campaign reports

Soutien au contenu – Rédaction & édition

  • Champion the Stantec brand with an understanding of the Stantec Voice and Style Guide

  • Develop dynamic content for external communications channels (e.g., by-lined articles, blogs, etc).

  • Translate complex, technical information into approachable content tailored to various target audiences and promotional channels in French wherever needed

  • Partner with internal stakeholders, including marketing and technical staff, to edit and approve content

  • Support executive leadership at key conferences, including keynote development, media briefings, and stakeholder meetings, in close collaboration with the marketing team.

Collaboration / remue-méninges

  • As part of the centralized Public Relations Team, embrace a collaborative work environment and meet regularly with the Public Relations Manager to establish weekly priorities, assignments, and progress toward long-term goals. Engage with cross-functional teams (Public Relations, Marketing, Communications) to exchange ideas and coordinate efforts for integrated campaigns.

  • Participate in Regional Marketing and larger Public Relations, Marketing and Communications team meetings, as needed, to discuss specific initiatives and contribute to brainstorm sessions for promotional campaign development and content marketing strategies

Analyse de données et rapports

  • Own the tracking and reporting of PR campaign results (media hits, social engagement, content performance), especially for regional initiatives, to demonstrate impact and ROI.

  • Regularly compile campaign analytics utilizing digital engagement tools (e.g., Cision, MuckRack, HootSuite, etc.)

  • Whenever needed, create regular reports to summarize the impact of various promotional activities, with the support of the Public Relations Manager

  • Keep internal PR planning documents, content calendars, and coordination tools updated and accessible, ensuring smooth alignment between Public Relations and Marketing teams on all initiatives.

Votre profil

  • Post-secondary degree in communications, public relations, journalism, or marketing

  • Minimum 5+ years of experience in a marketing communications, public relations, or journalism-driven role

Votre clé de réussite

  • Strong storytelling and writing skills are essential

  • Detail-oriented and organized, with exceptional prioritization skills

  • Ability to effectively balance multiple priorities

  • Fundamental understanding of the media landscape (traditional, social)

  • Excellent interviewing, written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment, as well as to work autonomously

  • Familiarity with photography and video preferred

  • Professional writing samples required

  • Bilingual (English and French) proficiency strongly preferred, given the focus on Quebec and Atlantic Canada.
