Senior Systems Administrator

Salary: $100,000 - 140,000 per year

• We require at least 5 years of experience administering Linux-based production servers such as Rocky, RHEL, or CentOS.
• We need strong hands-on expertise with Apache, including configuration, tuning, and troubleshooting.
• We require deep experience with MySQL or MariaDB, including replication, backups, performance optimization, and recovery.
• We need solid experience automating infrastructure with Ansible.
• We require a demonstrated ability to investigate and resolve incidents independently in a live production setting.
• We need strong shell scripting skills.
• We require experience using Git and GitHub.
• We need familiarity with server monitoring and observability tools.
• We require an understanding of security best practices and server hardening.
• Experience with Terraform is considered an asset.
• Experience with hardware virtualization is considered an asset.
• Experience administering firewalls, preferably Fortigate UTM, is considered an asset.
• Experience with load testing is considered an asset.
• Experience with Galera clusters is considered an asset.
• Basic PHP knowledge is helpful, though programming is not required.
• Knowledge of SAML is considered an asset.
• A degree in a related discipline is preferred, though equivalent experience will also be considered.
• RHCSA, RHCE, or CISSP certifications are assets but not mandatory.

• We will have this person build a working understanding of online voting and our business workflows.
• We will expect this person to develop deep knowledge of our voting platform infrastructure.
• We will have this person manage production, development, and staging environments.
• We will expect this person to monitor systems for outages, performance degradation, and security risks.
• We will have this person diagnose, resolve, and document production incidents, including root cause analysis and preventative follow-up.
• We will expect this person to make gradual, well-scoped improvements that strengthen reliability, security, and performance.
• We will have this person take part in peer review for infrastructure-as-code changes.
• We will expect this person to work closely with developers to support application dependencies and improve deployments.
• We will have this person assist with periodic security assessments and audits.
• We will expect this person to carry out occasional focused technical research tied to business priorities.
