About The Role
The Content Strategist is a crucial, client-facing role responsible for day-to-day client deliverables, creating and managing custom client strategies, and communicating with clients and internal stakeholders. The Strategist handles more Enterprise clients and should have a deep understanding of their service lines and how they impact other areas of business to create a holistic marketing strategy. Internally, this role is titled Account Strategist, Content & SEO.
What You'll Do
- Strategic Excellence and Best Practices: Create custom strategies and implement best practices to help clients achieve NSMs. Use the project phase as a foundation for the initial client strategy and continuously optimize strategies based on clients’ goals, campaigns, and performance, while adhering to Directive best practices. Collaborate with the Associate Director (AsD) to address roadblocks and goal attainment.
- Content and Campaign Ideation: Craft creative briefs and campaigns with a focus on ideation informed by competitor and audience insights.
- Best Practices: Apply best practices to position clients to exceed goals (examples include LTV: CAC modeling, Customer Generation, Share of SERP, Content Production).
- Goal Setting: Use available data to set client goals during engagement, with approval from the Associate Director. Data sources include Google Analytics, CRM data, SEMRush, and Ahrefs; all goals must be approved before presenting to the client.
- Project Management: Ensure strategy execution and clear task ownership within the Directive team and with the client. Use Asana for project management; delegate tasks and ensure timely completion. Partner with Project Managers to align tasks, dates, and communications; collaborate with content writers and designers to ensure timely, high-quality campaigns.
- Internal and External Communication: Build strong client relationships beyond deliverables and proactively communicate with clients and internal leadership about timelines, progress, and opportunities. Communicate timelines and deliverables through channels like Slack and ensure regular updates outside bi-weekly meetings.
- Reporting: Regularly report progress and impact to clients with a cadence of bi-weekly meetings, monthly reports, quarterly reports, and two bi-annual business review presentations (NSM progress and deliverables).
What You'll Bring
- Proven track record implementing SEO principles and content strategy: keyword research, on-page optimization, and link building.
- Analytical insight: ability to analyze website traffic and SEO metrics using tools like Google Analytics.
- Strong communication: comfortable with client-facing roles and stakeholder relationships.
- Familiarity with industry tools such as Google Search Console, Google Analytics, SEMRush, Ahrefs, Screaming Frog.
- Proven organizational, project, and time management skills.
- Genuine enthusiasm for digital marketing, SEO, and content.
- Agency experience required; B2B tech and/or SaaS experience preferred.
Goals
- NSM Attainment: 100%
- MRR Retention: 96%
- CSAT > 4.2
- Upsells / Cross-sells / Referrals: Strategists should regularly identify opportunities to grow clients’ business with Directive, such as expanding to additional service lines or increasing within current service lines. Encourage referrals at key moments (e.g., when a point of contact changes jobs).
- Client CSAT and retention metrics as above.
