Linux / Unix Consultant — Montreal, QC

Salary : $65,000.00-$70,000.00 per year

Responsibilities

• Vulnerability remediation
• Install & Configure Linux / Solaris systems
• Develop & maintain configuration management solutions
• Perform system maintenance including patching scheduling & tracking, monitor system performance, maintain system security, create system backups
• Asset inventory management; aware of Tenable Scan remediation
• Provide architecture design, development and implementation for all Linux / Unix systems and maintain monitoring & reporting tools
• Manage projects related to implementing cybersecurity tools and products
• Perform other Linux / Unix tasks as assigned
• Track and manage licenses for renewal, upgrade, and compliance of all devices
• Working knowledge of SimpliVity
• Resolve operational incident tickets (P1 / P2 / P3) or service requests per SLA
• Collaborate with Genpact, CACIB or 3rd party teams for changes
• Follow incident, problem and change management policies and procedures
• Workload management; monitoring management
• Provide guidance and support to team members

Qualifications

Minimum qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent experience
• Graduate or postgraduate in any stream with course in Computers or IT
• Minimum 3+ years of relevant experience in Linux & Solaris
• Storage experience is an added advantage
• Basic understanding of IT infrastructure and troubleshooting

Preferred qualifications / skills

• Hands-on experience with Linux / Solaris servers and Linux servers in virtualized environments
• Familiar with HPE & Oracle (SPARC) hardware
• Fundamentals of Linux / Solaris scripting
• ITIL knowledge for incidents, changes & requests
• Proficient with network tools like iptables, Linux IPVS, Solaris IPMP
• Knowledge of virtualization (e.g., HP SimpliVity)
• Red Hat Satellite knowledge for patching
• Experience with Centrify, CyberArk, HP OBM, RSA SOC tools
• Knowledge of SAN / NAS storage; related infrastructure
• Familiar with METIS for tracking requests & changes & CMDB (inventory)
• Experience participating in P1 / P2 incidents and mentoring teams
• Strong analytical skills and familiarity with Linux / Unix physical and virtual servers
• Financial services or other highly regulated industry experience is a plus
• Strong understanding of server & storage infrastructure and security posture
