Our Ways of Working
Babylist thrives as a remote-first company, with HQ team members located across the U.S. and Canada. We meet in person twice a year—once as a company and once by department to strengthen the relationships that power our work. We show up consistently, stay purpose-driven, and achieve results —together, from anywhere.
This role requires working co-located with your innovation team to enable rapid collaboration and iteration. Target locations are Montreal, Quebec and Boston, Massachusetts.
What the Role Is
As a Staff Product Designer on our innovation team, you'll pioneer new digital experiences that help families stay connected for all the moments that matter. You'll be part of a small, co-located team building a standalone product from the ground up, working like a startup within Babylist with the backing of an established brand and millions of users. This team operates autonomously, outside of Babylist's typical processes and tech stack, to design and rapidly prototype entirely new products from concept to launch. You'll work closely with a Product Manager and engineers in person to enable the kind of rapid collaboration and iteration that remote work can't match. This role requires moving fast in an ambiguous, 0-to-1 environment where you'll continuously validate assumptions through user research and testing. You'll design across web and mobile platforms, creating experiences that bring families closer together through sharing, connection, and meaningful interactions. This is hands-on work that demands both strategic vision and execution speed, with the autonomy to explore bold ideas while maintaining focus on what families actually need.
Who You Are
- You're an experienced product designer with 8+ years in the field who thrives in early-stage, high-ambiguity environments and has shipped successful 0-to-1 products
- Your portfolio demonstrates strong native mobile and web design work, with particular strength in social, communication, or family-focused experiences
- You have advanced Figma expertise and can rapidly move from rough concepts to high-fidelity prototypes that feel real enough to test with users
- You're comfortable with constant iteration and pivoting based on user feedback. You see "failure" as valuable learning
- You're a strong researcher who can design and conduct user interviews, usability tests, and other validation methods to inform design decisions
- You have experience building and evolving design systems from scratch, creating patterns that can scale as products grow
- You're self-directed and move fast, but know when to slow down for the details that matter most to users
- You work well in small, collaborative teams and can communicate design decisions clearly to engineers and stakeholders
- You've worked at early-stage companies, been part of a founding team, or thrived as an entrepreneur at a larger company
- You understand how co-location accelerates the design process and thrive in collaborative, in-person environments
