RESEARCH INSTITUTE OF THE MUHC
The Research Institute of the McGill University Health Centre (RI-MUHC) is a world-renowned biomedical and hospital research centre. Located in Montreal, Quebec, the Institute is the research arm of the McGill University Health Centre (MUHC) affiliated with the Faculty of Medicine at McGill University. The RI-MUHC is supported in part by the Fonds de recherche du Québec - Santé (FRQS).
Position Summary
Department / Research Program : CORE
Projects goal : Improving outcomes and use of healthcare services for all people with dementia, through an equity lens. The incumbent will act as a research coordinator and manage the team’s mixed-method projects (quantitative and qualitative) on equity for people with dementia, exploring the differences in their health services use and experiences across social-determinants of health and their interactions, to inform equity-oriented policies.

As an early career researcher, building my lab, I am looking for a research coordinator to build a long-term, productive relationship with, to help with mixed-methods research projects focusing on improving care for older people with dementia. This is a one-year, part or full-time position with the possibility for renewal and / or promotion pending fit and available funds. I am looking for someone who will stay in the position for at least 3 years. The project manager will work at the forefront of important, cutting-edge research aimed at improving dementia care through equitable practices. This role offers the chance to work closely with a collaborative and interdisciplinary team, and have a direct impact on the design and success of research projects that can improve the lives of people with dementia.
General Duties
Responsibilities
The incumbent will oversee the day-to-day operations of our research group. This position will be central to the research team, providing both managerial and research expertise. The incumbent will work across multiple research projects focused on equity in dementia care, ensuring that all activities are executed efficiently. Responsibilities include :
- Collaborate with the PI and research team to design and conceptualize studies, ensuring that projects are methodologically sound,
- Contribute to the development of study protocols, research questions, and theoretical frameworks,
- Leading the planning, organization, and implementation of multiple research projects, in collaboration with PIs at other institutes, universities, and provinces,
- Developing project timelines, milestones, and deliverables, ensuring adherence to deadlines and project goals, and coordinating and managing the logistics of all research activities, (e.g., tasks are completed on time and within budget),
- Providing guidance and supervision to, managing the work of, and delegating tasks to other team members (research assistants, data analysts, interviewers, students),
- Leading regular team meetings to track progress, identify issues, and ensure collaboration across projects,
- Serving as the primary point of contact between the PI and other key parties, including collaborating researchers, patient and community partners, and institutional staff,
- Working on qualitative research with team members to :
- Develop qualitative research methods,
- Select analysis techniques,
- Train team members on interviewing and research methods,
- Recruit participants, establish and maintain contact, and obtain informed consent,
- Collect data and conduct interviews,
- Participate in data analysis,
- Interpret findings.
- Mentoring and supporting research staff, fostering a collaborative and productive work environment, holding workshops or seminars on research methods and professional development,
- Providing research support : assisting with literature reviews and research tasks,
- Providing support for quantitative analysis, including data cleaning, statistical analyses, and interpretation of results,
- Drafting scientific reports and research publications,
- Preparing applications for grant and funding opportunities, ethics review, and contracts,
- Maintaining and organizing project files, ensuring all documents are up-to-date,
- Collaborating closely and regularly with patient partners (people with dementia and their care partners), community partners (community organizations) to understand their needs and priorities and to conduct mixed-methods research alongside them,
- Contributing to research dissemination by writing and presenting both qualitative and quantitative findings in reports, manuscripts, and presentations for varied audiences.

Education / Experience
Education : Doctorate Degree
Field of Study : Not restricted, but prefer Public Health, Sociology, Anthropology, Health Services Research, Medicine, Epidemiology, Psychology, etc.
Work Experience : At least 2 years of experience in project / research management, including experience coordinating research projects and managing teams (e.g., lab coordinator or project management roles) and at least 1-2 years of experience in research methods (quantitative research, but preferably mixed-methods).

Status : Temporary, full time (35-hour workweek)
Pay Scale : Commensurate with education and experience. $54,327.00 - $100,882.60
Work Shift : Variable Schedule (Working hours are flexible, but typically land between 9 : 00-17 : 00).
Work Site : Hybrid
If other : Montreal General Hospital. Flexible : with at least 1-2 days on site
