Context

As part of the development of our industrial engineering activities, we are looking for an AVEVA PI Systems Engineer to support our clients in the implementation, integration, and optimization of AVEVA PI solutions within industrial environments.

The role combines system configuration, data integration, technical development, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement, with a strong focus on industrial data management and IT/OT environments.

Location & Work Arrangement

The project is based in Iowa, USA, with the following work arrangements depending on the candidate's location:

  • Canada-based: Remote work with one on-site trip per month to Iowa, typically for one week.

  • Iowa-based: Hybrid work arrangement.

  • US-based outside Iowa: Remote work with one on-site trip per month to Iowa, typically for one week.

Responsibilities

System Implementation & Configuration

  • Configure and maintain AVEVA PI System components, including PI Data Archive, PI Asset Framework (AF), and PI Vision.

  • Configure data interfaces to connect industrial equipment, control systems (SCADA, DCS, PLCs), and IoT devices to the PI Historian.

  • Support the deployment and evolution of PI System solutions within industrial environments.

Data Management & Integration

  • Ensure reliable collection and storage of time-series data from production systems.

  • Develop integrations between AVEVA PI and other IT/OT systems, including ERP, MES, LIMS, and CMMS.

  • Build and maintain data models in PI Asset Framework to structure and contextualize industrial data.

  • Ensure data quality, consistency, and availability.

Application Development

  • Develop scripts, tools, or applications to automate data flows, reporting, and calculations.

  • Develop and customize dashboards and visualizations using PI Vision or third-party BI tools.

  • Identify opportunities to improve data accessibility and usability.

Support & Optimization

  • Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and ensure data quality.

  • Optimize PI System configurations to improve scalability, reliability, and security.

  • Support incident resolution and continuous improvement activities.

User Enablement

  • Provide technical support and training to engineers, operators, and business users.

  • Develop reporting, KPIs, and analytics to support decision-making and regulatory requirements.

Profile

  • 5+ years of professional experience working with AVEVA PI / OSIsoft PI Systems.

  • Hands-on experience with PI Data Archive, PI Asset Framework, and PI Vision.

  • Experience with industrial data collection and IT/OT integration.

  • Knowledge of SCADA, DCS, PLCs, or other industrial control systems.

  • Experience with scripting, development, or data technologies such as SQL, Python, or similar.

  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Automation, or a related field.

  • English proficiency required.
