Votre nouveau rôle

WB Games Montreal is looking for a detail-oriented User Research Assistant (Full-Time Contract – 18 months) who has a passion for gaming and the science around conducting research.

In this role you will be responsible to moderate and organize groups (4 – 20 participants) for game testing sessions on console, PC, and mobile devices to collect data on games made or published by WB Games.

During this 18-month contract position, you will observe participant’s behavior and communicate that information back to the research team. You will receive training for many of the necessary skills, however knowledge of research practices involving a human subject is essential.

The incumbent will be employed by Aptitude-X and will receive salary and benefits accordingly.

This position is hybrid. No relocation assistance will be offered. You must have legal right to work in Canada.

Responsabilités

  • Prepare and execute research studies.
  • Prepare and execute research studies.
  • Support lead researchers in investigating game play behavior to uncover insights
  • Support operational tasks including the setup of labs and procedures
  • Administer each playtest in a non-biased manner
  • Contribute to high‑quality research reports that synthesize qualitative and quantitative findings into clear, actionable insights for product, design, and engineering teams
  • Support expert reviews (heuristic evaluations, UX audits, competitive assessments) to identify usability issues, experience gaps, and opportunities for improvement across game features, flows, or systems.
  • Clean and code qualitative and quantitative data for analysis
  • Use survey tools to draft, distribute, and administer surveys
  • Use database to search, filter, schedule and communicate with playtest participants
  • Recruit the necessary amount and participant profile for each study
  • Maintain the inventory of lab supplies, forecasting and updating when new stock is needed
  • Special projects on occasion (Data entry, Recruiting events, Game teardowns, Documentation, etc.)

Qualifications

  • A relevant college degree (branches of experimental psychology, human computer interaction, human factors, or related field).
  • Comfortable speaking in front of groups and providing clear instructions.
  • Experience moderating groups effectively without supervision.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.
  • Comfortable with Office 365 tools, data analysis tools, and databases
  • Comfortable with using technology, setting up lab hardware, troubleshooting common device connectivity issues.
  • Knowledge of research design, qualitative, and quantitative methodologies.
  • Familiar with game design theory and development process for video games.
  • Able to adapt and learn quickly when faced with a large variety of problems.
  • Bilingual in French and English, both written and oral, strongly preferred.
  • Genuinely enjoy gaming in all forms!
