The Sun Life Health (SLH) business within Sun Life Canada is a leading provider of Group Benefits and Health Solutions. A market leader in the advancement of workplace mental health across Canada, through the introduction of new tools such as Lumino Health Virtual Care’s Stress Management and Well-Being program providing members access to mental health and medical specialists 24/7. The role of Manager, Best Practices, R&A, will report to the Director, Accounting & Financial Analysis, joining a fast-paced and energetic Finance team. They will be accountable for reviewing complex processes, refreshing our methodology, exploring further automation, and enhancing documentation. This role is a one year contract with the possibility of Extension.

Responsible for analysis, development and ongoing improvements to business practices, processes, procedures and tools. Reviews, analyzes, and evaluates user needs. Develops specific business processes and facilitates implementation.

What will you do?

  • Lead a portfolio of improvement initiatives that are measurable and drive value for the Finance team (identify opportunities, champion proposals, solution deployment, benefit realization)

  • Drive cross functional business initiative/ projects

  • Assess the methodology of processes (accounting methodology, outputs, stakeholder needs, etc.)

  • Responsible for leading process improvement projects, focusing on process re-engineering, improving process quality, and efficiency

  • Interact with leadership and peers to drive and influence improvement objectives and create a Continuous Improvement roadmap

  • Drive change management through stakeholder management and influence business improvement objectives

  • Develop standard practices and ensure all teams adopt consistent processes, where applicable

  • Provide expertise and act as a resource for many internal partners and teams

What do you need to succeed?

  • Exceptional communication and facilitation skills

  • Experience in conducting needs analysis and evaluation

  • Experience in managing large & complex projects from initiation to close

  • High attention to detail and quality of work; ability to work in ambiguous & challenging situations and develop solutions that meet the needs of all stakeholders

  • Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain strong relationships across the organization at all levels

  • Ability to manage through influence and collaborate to achieve goals

  • Ability to adapt to change and pivot quickly with changing priorities

  • Self-starter, takes initiative and has desire to probe and solution

  • Strong analytical, problem solving, and decision-making skills

  • Be a champion for change in learning new technology quickly

  • Strong time management and prioritize activities independently

  • As this position is posted in several locations, we specify that bilingualism (French, English, both oral and written) is required for Quebec only for the frequent interactions with English and French-speaking colleagues or internal partners across Canada or worldwide

Unique Requirements

Reliability Status : As a condition of the role, the successful candidate must be eligible and obtain a Government of Canada Reliability Status security clearance through Sun Life.

Assets

  • CPA or CA professional designation preferred

  • Very strong accounting knowledge, preferably in group insurance

  • Experience in group insurance

  • Certified Six Sigma Black Belt is an asset
