About the Role

Botpress is hiring a Head of UX to take end-to-end ownership of the product design experience. This role requires someone able to navigate ambiguity when defining problems, explore solutions, prototype, and communicate design decisions and tradeoffs while working closely with Engineering and Product.

The Head of UX will be responsible for delivering exceptional quality from early concepts through high-fidelity outputs, while helping shape interaction patterns for AI-driven products. The role also involves building scalable systems across design systems, operating rhythms, and research and insight loops.

This person should be highly autonomous and able to identify product problems by observing user replays and how users interact with the product, synthesizing those insights with Product. The role also includes refining flows and product paper cuts, shaping AI-native workflows, and helping set the design culture bar.

Responsibilities

• Design and ship product experiences from early concepts through high-fidelity outputs.
• Partner closely with Engineering and Product throughout the design and development process.
• Refine product flows and address usability issues.
• Observe interaction patterns to identify problems and opportunities for improvement.
• Synthesize user insights and feedback with Product to guide design decisions.
• Build and evolve scalable design systems, including patterns for AI-driven interactions.
• Establish operating rhythms and feedback loops that connect research, insights, and product improvements.
• Design complex interaction models for AI-first workflows, including agents and LLM capabilities.
• Define principles for trust and clarity in high-stakes product flows.
• Contribute to design critiques and help maintain a high bar for design quality and culture.

Requirements

• Senior or Lead-level experience in UX/UI design.
• Robust craft & product thinking.
• Demonstrated experience designing and shipping products from early concepts through high-fidelity outputs.
• Experience working closely with engineering and product teams in a product development environment.
• Experience building and maintaining design systems.
• Strong attention to detail in interface and interaction design.
• Experience designing complex interaction flows in software products.
• Experience with user research and advocating for user needs.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Experience contributing to design critique, hiring, or similar leadership responsibilities in previous roles.
• Strong familiarity with modern prototyping workflows that include AI tools (e.g., Claude Code, Codex, V0).
• Experience working in high-velocity startup environments is a strong advantage.
• Experience working on AI-driven products or AI interaction patterns is a strong advantage.
