Job Description

The Research Institute of the McGill University Health Centre (RI-MUHC) is a world-renowned biomedical and hospital research centre. Located in Montreal, Quebec, the Institute is the research arm of the McGill University Health Centre (MUHC) affiliated with the Faculty of Medicine at McGill University. The RI-MUHC is supported in part by the Fonds de recherche du Québec - Santé (FRQS).

Position Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated, organized, and experienced Research Assistant to join our dynamic research group. The Research Assistant will contribute to clinical research studies aimed at improving maternal health. The incumbent must be familiar with all aspects of the clinical research process and capable of managing and executing a broad range of study-related tasks.

General Duties

  • Conduct all aspects of study conduct, including participant screening and pre-screening, obtaining informed consent, recruitment of patients for clinical research studies, and study visit coordination.
  • Coordinate and ensure timely follow-up visits by collaborating effectively with multidisciplinary team members and collaborators.
  • Complete study logs, case report forms, and other study documentation, and transcribing them into Electronic Data Capture System (EDC) promptly and accurately.
  • Prepare Research Ethics Board submissions, including new submissions, protocol amendment, protocol deviations/violations, and annual renewals.
  • Ensure all study activities comply with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Good Clinical Practice (GCP), and regulatory requirements.
  • Manage collection, processing, and storage of biological specimens according to protocol requirements.
  • Maintain the Investigator Study File, ensuring all study records and documentation are organized and accurate to support data integrity and regulatory audits.
  • Work closely with the research team to support study operations.
  • Assist in training new team members or students, as needed.
  • Ensure appropriate inventory and purchases of equipment and material.

Education / Experience

Education: Master's Degree

Field of Study: Biomedical Sciences, Health sciences

Other education considered an asset for this position: Clinical Research certificate or diploma

Work Experience: At least 12 months in clinical research

Required Skills

  • Excellent French and English, spoken and written
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work autonomously
  • Strong organizational skills

Additional Information

Status: Temporary, full time (35-hour workweek)

Pay Scale: Commensurate with education and experience. $49,722.40 - $92,346.80.

Work Shift: Monday to Friday 9:00am to 5:00pm

Work Site: GLEN Site, 1001 boul. Decarie
