Overview

Act as a liaison between environmental student groups, residence students, food and dining employees, administration, and the general student population. Represent SHHS in matters of sustainability at McGill. Coordinate and assist in the execution of programs such as waste management, fairtrade, Local Food Day, and general sustainability events.

Responsibilities

  • Act as a liaison among environmental student groups, residence students, food and dining employees, administration, and the general student population.
  • Represent SHHS in matters of sustainability at McGill.
  • Coordinate and assist in the execution of programs including waste management, fairtrade, Local Food Day, and sustainability events.
  • Attend training and participate in in-person and virtual campus events/activities; provide information about zero-waste, recycling, and sustainability practices; educate the campus community on sustainability.
  • Be stationed at busy bins on campus at various times to help people choose the right bin when disposing of waste.
  • Conduct presentations to educate students, staff, and faculty on sustainability.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of French and English. McGill University is an English-language university; day-to-day duties may require English communication both verbally and in writing.
  • Autonomy and resourcefulness; ability to work independently.
  • Strong communication skills; ability to approach crowds about sustainability.
  • Team-oriented; ability to collaborate with peers and contribute to future projects.
  • Ability to take a systematic approach to task completion and reporting of achievements.

Additional Information

  • Period of employment: October 5, 2025, to April 18, 2026
  • Hours of work: 3 hours/week (possible more hours during events on certain weeks)
  • Hourly rate: $16.44 per hour
  • Minimum Education and Experience: High School Diploma
  • Position Start Date: October 5, 2025
  • Position End Date: April 18, 2026
