About the Opportunity
Domtar is looking for a full-time Indigenous Relations Coordinator for a one-year contract based in Montreal, Quebec (hybrid).
Reporting to the Director of Indigenous Relations, you will play a pivotal role in supporting Indigenous engagement strategies and advancing community relationships across Domtar.
In this position, you will be primarily responsible for planning, coordinating, and delivering Indigenous Relations initiatives, including community outreach, internal training, and public-facing events, while ensuring alignment with Domtar’s broader public affairs, forestry, and corporate objectives.
More specifically, your responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Supporting the development, tracking, and implementation of Indigenous engagement strategies and MOU commitments
- Assisting with research, data analysis, and policy monitoring related to Indigenous relations, forestry, and public affairs
- Coordinating and attending meetings, events, and community engagements, including logistical support
- Preparing internal and external communication materials, including presentations, memos, briefing notes, and social media content
- Supporting the design and delivery of cultural awareness training across corporate and operational teams
- Assisting with community investment, sustainability reporting, and certification engagement tracking

About You
To qualify, you will need an undergraduate degree in Indigenous Relations, Political Science, Public Policy, Forestry, Business, Communications, or a related field, along with 3-4+ years of experience in Indigenous relations, public affairs, or a related area.
The following are required:
- Fluency in both French and English
- A valid driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle
- Willingness and ability to travel across Quebec and other provinces, including remote communities
Additionally, the following skills and background will be highly valued:
- Proven experience supporting Indigenous engagement and community-based initiatives
- Knowledge of Indigenous governance, protocols, and cultural sensitivity
- Ability to coordinate events and logistics in remote and urban settings
- Strong communication skills for preparing memos, presentations, and public-facing materials
- Familiarity with public affairs, corporate communications, and sustainability reporting
Note: Preference will be given to applicants who have First Nations or Indigenous ancestry.
