Role

The Solution Engineering Manager (SEM) is the Technical Bid / Project manager for the Engineering organization. S / he provides the principal engineering delivery leadership, direction, management decision authority and support to the Bid / Project. The SEM directs and manages the Engineering team on Bid / Project to achieve company objectives in terms of program schedule, financial and quality targets. This role requires a solid combined technical and managerial foundation to lead the engineering effort on the Bid / Project to ensure the solutions endorsed by the PDA are defined / planned and estimated accurately for Bids within the Bid schedule timeline and cost agreed with Bid Manager, and delivered according to approved schedule and budget with PMO for Project.

Key Responsibilities

• In Bid phase, act as the technical focal point to manage Engineering deliverables on bids and consolidate estimates for engineering disciplines for the entire signaling system. Manage preparation of technical milestones (e.g., Solutions Orientation Review) and ensure design artifacts align with the PDA-endorsed technical solution. Ensure consistency of cost estimates including HOD validation.
• Lead and coordinate engineering activities during the Bid phase to ensure defined / planed / accurate definitions and estimates; define and manage the technical milestones and artifacts; contribute to customer-facing presentations and workshops.
• In Bid phase, produce deliverables including : Engineering schedule and roadmap; consolidated engineering estimate and sign-off; Systems Engineering Management Plan (SEMP); manage / coordinate other deliverables produced by others (DVA, TD, system architecture drawings, installation SoWs, procurement specs / SoWs, interface documents, compliance matrices, and requirement management tooling).
• In Project phase, act as the engineering process focal point for multidisciplinary signaling projects; supervise issue resolution, implementation and deployment; manage all delivery activities including engineering Gate reviews.
• Possess the ability to be endorsed concurrently with PM and / or PDA depending on project size.
