AI Research Scientist

Overview

Mercor is seeking Statistics PhDs for a premier project with one of the world's top AI labs. You will contribute subject matter expertise to a cutting-edge project involving state-of-the-art large language models and help create high-quality data by proposing difficult problems in your domain.

The base pay range is $60.00 / hr - $80.00 / hr. This range is provided by Mercor; your actual pay will be based on your skills and experience — talk with your recruiter to learn more.

Responsibilities

• Contribute subject matter expertise to a cutting-edge project involving state-of-the-art large language models.
• Help create high-quality data by proposing and solving difficult problems in your domain to inform AI innovation.

Qualifications

• Statistics PhD from a top US, UK, Canadian, or European university.
• High attention to detail.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
• Excellent proficiency in English.

Role Details

• Role is ongoing starting in August with rolling applications.
• Project is expected to require 15-20 hours per week, with potential to extend to 40 hours per week.
• Fully remote and asynchronous work to fit your schedule.
• Project is scoped to last a minimum of 1-2 months.
• Legally classified as an hourly contractor for Mercor.
• Payments processed weekly via Stripe Connect.
• Screening process includes a short AI interview and a written form (20-30 minutes total).
