Position
IT Support Specialist provides help and advice to people and organizations using computer software or equipment. This role is the first line of support for all users in the corporate IT environment, performs activities to ensure Help Desk efficiency, and delivers high-quality client service and value.
Responsibilities
- Resolve helpdesk tickets as assigned.
- Troubleshoot issues on laptops, mobile devices, telephones, or desktops.
- Walk staff through recommended problem-solving steps.
- Set up or repair computer equipment and related devices.
- Train users to work with new hardware or software (printers, word-processing software, email).
- Assist users in installing, updating, and troubleshooting software.
- Provide best-practice processes for end users for IT equipment.
- Basic support to VOIP systems.
- Printer installation, support, and repair for laser, inkjet, and large format printers.
- Provide technical help to non-IT computer users.
- Respond to phone and email requests for help; provide in-person support as needed.
- Improve overall Help Desk processes; communicate with vendors for support issues.
- Create and maintain methods and procedures (M&P’s).
- Communicate effectively with customers, team members, and management.
- Work on-call in 1st, 2nd or 3rd shifts on a rotating basis; shift work as needed for system support or projects.
- Prioritize support issues to solve mission-critical problems first.
- IT building maintenance such as cable management and server room upkeep.
Qualifications
- Associate degree with computer-related classes and training.
- 1+ years supporting desktops, laptops, and printers in a corporate environment.
- Knowledge and experience in: Windows 7 / 10, MS Office, antivirus (Webroot), problem solving, software maintenance, customer service, basic network understanding, remote tools, device management tools, Active Directory / LDAP basics, VPN / remote access basics; SQL experience is a plus.
- Additional requirements (preferred): A+, Microsoft certified, VMware or Citrix certifications, bilingual.
