CNC Programmer / Operator - Lathe
Our client, a Montreal-based CNC machine shop specializing in product introduction, prototyping, and production machining is currently hiring a CNC Programmer / Operator.
Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of experience in CNC turning and/or lathe programming and setup. Programming knowledge is required.
- Familiarity with Fanuc and/or Mitsubishi controls.
- English and/or French proficiency.
Responsibilities
- Develop and program CNC machine instructions using CAD/CAM software.
- Set up and operate CNC machines for various machining operations.
- Monitor and adjust machine settings to ensure quality and efficiency.
- Inspect finished products for accuracy and adherence to specifications.
- Collaborate with engineers and the production team to optimize manufacturing processes.
- Troubleshoot and resolve CNC machine issues as needed.
Qualifications
- Previous experience as a CNC Programmer or in a similar role.
- Proficiency in CAD/CAM software and G-code programming.
- Strong knowledge of machining processes and materials.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints.
- Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles is an asset.
Additional Information
- Program and set up CNC lathes (priority).
- Perform first-piece setups and on-floor production tasks.
- Occasional CNC milling work (secondary, only if lathe workload is light).
- Hands-on role: programmer also performs machine setup; not just remote programming.
Qualifications and Requirements
- DEP (Machinist) or ASP (CNC) or minimum 3 years of experience on CNC machines.
- Proficiency with measurement instruments: micrometer, caliper, and other tools (bore gauge, etc.).
- Knowledge of tooling: identify when a tool is worn and needs replacement, understand surface finishes.
