Connecting the cornerstones for smart cities around the world. Enhance. Enable. Empower.

BusPas is a leader in smart mobility solutions, operating in cities across North America and Europe — including Montréal, Barcelona, Miami, Los Angeles, and New Jersey. Our mission is to build the foundation for smart, connected cities by enhancing public transit systems with smart bus stops featuring edge computing, sensors solar power, and AI vision. We offer the #ORA platform to empower municipalities to manage transit and city maintenance, and to make better, data-driven decisions.

Through advanced AI, edge computing, and automated enforcement technologies, we help transit agencies keep streets moving, improve accessibility, and create safer, more efficient urban environments. By integrating real-time insights with city infrastructure, BusPas enables our partners to deliver tangible results — from increased ridership to improved operational efficiency — shaping a future where public transportation is reliable, equitable, and sustainable.

Role Overview

The VP of Development Operations will lead the strategic and operational direction of DevOps at BusPas, supporting all product software delivery pipelines, environments, and developer tooling. You’ll focus on building a secure, resilient, and scalable DevOps function that improves delivery efficiency and operational visibility while tightly integrating with our engineering, QA, and product teams.

You will not oversee the platform infrastructure itself—that is owned by the Innovation team—but you will ensure that all software releases, testing automation, configuration management, and version control meet industry-leading standards, especially in environments governed by public sector constraints.

Key Responsibilities

  • Define and drive BusPas’ DevOps roadmap, focusing on automation, tooling, and process efficiency.
  • Build, scale, and optimize CI / CD pipelines for multiple software products and microservices.
  • Lead the development and maintenance of secure build and release workflows across dev, staging, and production environments.
  • Oversee the management of all non-prod environments (dev, QA, UAT), ensuring consistency and stability.
  • Implement and govern configuration-as-code practices and version control standards.
  • Collaborate with the Innovation team to ensure seamless software deployment into shared platform environments.

Security, Compliance & Change Control

  • Enforce DevSecOps practices, incorporating security checks throughout the SDLC.
  • Implement robust release management, rollback, and auditing capabilities aligned with transit agency and public sector compliance requirements.
  • Standardize change control processes with clear traceability across teams.
  • Build and manage a high-performance DevOps and release engineering team.
  • Foster a culture of automation, transparency, and operational excellence.
  • Partner with engineering leads to define and implement developer experience best practices.
  • Work closely with the CTO, VP of Product, and VP of Innovation to ensure delivery alignment with platform and product goals.
  • Establish and report on DevOps KPIs (deployment frequency, MTTR, change fail rate, etc.) to executive stakeholders.
  • Provide strategic input on environment architecture, observability, and cross-functional delivery cadence.

Preferred Experience & Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in software engineering, DevOps, or release engineering, with 5+ years in a leadership role.
  • Strong experience with Microsoft Azure, GitHub Actions or Azure DevOps, containerized environments (Docker / K8s), and infrastructure-as-code tools (e.g., Bicep, Terraform).
  • Deep understanding of CI / CD automation, software quality gates, testing pipelines, and secure delivery practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional DevOps initiatives in a regulated or public-sector-facing environment.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills with a collaborative, solutions-oriented mindset.

What We Offer

  • Competitive executive salary and equity options.
  • A leadership role at the intersection of public safety, AI, and civic tech.
  • Flexible hybrid work model and a fast-paced, collaborative culture.
  • A mission-driven company improving transportation equity and efficiency worldwide.
