Job Description
We are seeking a Systems Architect / Project Design Authority (PDA) for our Montreal team. The PDA is responsible for Solution Compliance during bid, project, or product development phases, aiming to define solutions that meet full compliance within budget and schedule constraints, optimizing trade-offs according to product line policies.
The PDA may be involved in either or both bid and delivery phases, sometimes simultaneously with the Solution Engineering Manager (SEM), depending on project size. Key activities include:
- Leading the technical team for bids or projects.
- Acting as the main technical interface with clients regarding architecture, design, and performance.
- Analyzing client needs and defining initial requirements.
- Ensuring solution compliance with policies, contractual, legal, and regulatory requirements.
- Balancing solution features with client requirements, considering budget, risks, schedule, and performance.
- Verifying engineering environment alignment with project and company requirements.
- Reviewing technical risks and mitigation plans with the SEM.
- Preparing and approving design validation documents at each project stage.
- Approving key technical reviews and deliverables.
- Organizing technical meetings and peer reviews.
- Overseeing production, deployment, and maintenance aspects in collaboration with relevant managers.
- Reporting on technical status and risks to the Design Authority (DA).
Key Requirements
- Bachelor's in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
- At least 5 years of experience in software-based system development.
- Minimum 3 years leading multidisciplinary engineering teams.
- Experience with multiple SelTrac projects, including design, integration, and acceptance.
- Strong communication and technical management skills.
- Deep knowledge of automated train control systems and modern engineering practices.
- Excellent marketing and presentation skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively with clients of varying technical backgrounds.
- System engineering experience covering parts of the software or hardware development lifecycle.
- Fluency in English, written and spoken.
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional Engineer's Licence (P.Eng.)
