In this role you will:

  • Champions a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.
  • Build and execute on a monthly contact plan focused on engaging clients in financial planning and advice
  • Complete financial planning in the areas of risk management, estate planning, liability management, cashflow/budgeting, education funding, tax, retirement planning, investment management, practice management and goal setting
  • Prepare and update comprehensive financial plans and specific investment strategies based on MD Management developed and managed optimal portfolio ranges
  • Understand and comply with all industry regulations and MD's program and process requirements
  • Responsible for client meeting preparation, post meeting notes and identifying next opportunities, gathering and inputting financial data resulting from discovery conversations
  • Increase visibility of products and services through contact with centers of influence
  • Keep current on issues affecting the financial affairs of clients, including a general knowledge of income tax, investment trends and products, as well as any other issues impacting clients
  • Travel within established travel circuit
  • Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
  • Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.

Exigences

  • Relevant degree or diploma from an accredited post-secondary institution or four years of relevant experience.
  • CIRO licensed as a Registered Representative (CIRO-RR) including completion of the Canadian Investment Regulatory Exam (CIRE), Retail Securities Exam (RSE)
  • Completion of the Group Annuity Sector (PQPAV) (Quebec offices only); Life License (LLQP) (all other provinces), and the willingness to complete other regulatory requirements including RR Dealer Member Training and Conduct Training Course
  • Previous related experience will be considered an asset.
  • Pl.Fin designation or working towards completion considered an asset
  • Good working knowledge of Financial Planning
  • Good product knowledge
  • A demonstrated track record of above average sales in a financial services or related environment
  • Strong marketing skills
  • Excellent presentation skills
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proficiency in Canada’s two official languages is an asset.

Conditions de travail

  • Work in a standard office-based environment; non-standard hours are a common occurrence.

In addition to French, the successful candidate must also have sufficient knowledge of English, as the work involves interacting and collaborating regularly with groups and individuals based in Toronto, as well as constantly interacting with other people, including clients, who speak English, locally and elsewhere.
