An international financial institution is seeking a Banking Controller for its Canadian Branch. The organization operates globally across Europe, the Americas, Asia-Pacific, the Middle East, and North Africa, supporting corporate and institutional clients with a broad range of financial services.
The Canadian branch has offices in Montreal and Toronto and provides financial services to Canadian financial institutions, banks, pension funds, and large multinational corporations.

Role Summary
As Banking Controller, you will play a key role in the financial management and reporting activities of the Canadian Branch. You will collaborate closely with international finance teams and contribute to financial reporting, monitoring, and process optimization initiatives.

Work Model: Hybrid (2 remote days permitted)

Responsibilities & Duties
• Ensure excellence in financial accounting and management reporting for the banking branch
• Ensure compliance with group policies and Canadian tax regulations
• Prepare financial regulatory reports
• Complete accounting entries required for month-end and account closing
• Monitor and analyze management results against budget
• Prepare and produce Canadian financial reports with rigorous quality assurance of the general ledger
• Develop and maintain accurate documentation and detailed descriptions of processes under responsibility
• Collaborate regularly with external auditors, tax authorities, and international internal teams
Required Skills
• CPA certification (Certified Professional Accountant) with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience
• Comprehensive understanding of banking-specific accounting principles, including OSFI regulatory filings
• Flexibility and autonomy, with the ability to manage multiple tasks while maintaining strong attention to detail
• Excellent organizational and communication skills
• In-depth knowledge of Canadian IFRS GAAP for public companies
• Strong computer skills
• Knowledge of banking-specific tax regulations (asset)
• Knowledge of Canadian banking regulations (asset)
• French-English bilingualism required for daily interactions with international offices
