Position: Payroll Specialist Position Type: Permanent No. of Positions: 1 Location: Montreal Description Looking for a detail-focused and hands-on Payroll Specialist to support operations. Reporting to senior HR leadership, this position plays a key role in delivering payroll services while also supporting day-to-day employee relations and HR processes at a local site. This role combines transactional payroll ownership with frontline HR support. The individual will be the go-to contact for employees, ensuring payroll accuracy, supporting employee changes, and maintaining compliance with applicable employment standards. This is a fully onsite role based and requires fluency in both English and French. This position offers a competitive base salary while working with a dynamic and innovative organization. Key Responsibilities Payroll (Major Focus) - Manage full-cycle payroll processing for designated employee groups across multiple regions, ensuring timely and accurate execution - Handle payroll updates, including new hires, salary adjustments, incentives, commissions, leaves, terminations, and deductions - Administer equity-related compensation programs (e.g., share plans), including tracking, reporting, and payroll implications - Perform payroll reconciliations, identify discrepancies, and resolve issues efficiently - Support payroll activities across different jurisdictions, ensuring proper data handling and compliance - Prepare required payroll documentation such as employment records, year-end tax forms, and audit materials - Act as the main contact for payroll-related inquiries from employees and internal stakeholders - Ensure payroll data aligns with HR records, including contracts, promotions, and benefits changes - Work closely with finance teams on reporting, accruals, and payroll-related financial processes - Contribute to improving payroll workflows, controls, and documentation - Coordinate with external vendors and support payroll system updates, testing, and issue resolution - Assist with payroll readiness for new regions as the organization expands - Maintain strict confidentiality when handling sensitive employee and compensation data Human Resources (Supporting Focus) - Serve as a local HR contact for employees, addressing questions and concerns - Support onboarding activities, including documentation and system setup - Provide guidance on HR policies, compensation, and benefits inquiries - Assist with recruitment coordination, including screening and scheduling - Support employee lifecycle activities such as role changes, exits, and documentation updates - Ensure adherence to provincial employment regulations and internal policies - Collaborate with the broader HR team to maintain consistency across processes and initiatives Qualifications - 3+ years of experience in payroll processing, ideally supporting multiple regions - Solid understanding of Canadian payroll practices and compliance requirements - Experience working with payroll/HR systems (any modern platforms) - Fluency in both English and French is required - General understanding of HR operations and employee lifecycle processes - Strong attention to detail and ability to handle confidential information - Effective organizational and problem-solving skills - Comfortable working in a fast-paced, multi-priority environment Work Environment - Full-time schedule (Monday to Friday) - Some flexibility may be needed during peak payroll cycles or deadlines We thank all candidates in advance.
