This role sits within Laurentian Bank.

Within the Treasury and Capital Markets Risk Governance team (Issuer, Counterparty, Market, Liquidity and Interest Rate Structural Risks), the position's primary mandate will be to ensure monitoring of issuer and counterparty risk.


Responsibilities
  • Participates in the overall issuer and counterparty risk management framework (policies, procedures, reports, measures, authorization and limit monitoring processes)
  • Actively participates in the development, improvement and optimization of issuer and counterparty limit monitoring tools and processes;
  • Manages issuer and counterparty limit requests (securities, derivatives, repos, etc.) received from Treasury and Capital Markets desks:
    • Receives business line requirements;
    • Conducts risk analyses;
    • Makes recommendations;
    • Participates in the submission of applications to the Credit Group;
  • Enters authorized limits into risk tracking systems;
  • Monitors issuer and counterparty limits daily and rigorously;
  • Participates in risk management disclosure to management and the Bank's Board of Directors Risk Management Committee;
  • Collaborates on optimizing processes related to limit requests and authorizations;
  • Collaborates in the development of a proactive system for monitoring counterparty and issuer credit migration;
  • Collaborates on the development of new monitoring and reporting methods based on financial products and managers' needs;
  • Understands the interrelationships between issuer, counterparty, liquidity and market risk management and keeps abreast of regulatory developments;
  • Participates in the review, development and evolution of the framework for the various risks related to the activities of the Treasury and Capital Markets sectors;
  • Participates in analyses relating to requests for new Treasury and Capital Markets products;
  • Keeps up to date on their area of expertise, current legislation, policies, programs and procedures in their sector, and is aware of market trends;
  • Perform any other tasks of a similar nature or of a general nature requested by their superior or required in the course of their duties.
Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Finance or a related field;
  • Professional certification (FRM, CFA, PRM) in progress or completed would be an asset;
  • Up to two years of relevant experience in risk management an asset;
  • Any other combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Highly rigorous;
  • Good communication and popularization skills;
  • Good writing skills;
  • Knowledge of VBA and advanced Excel proficiency;
  • Knowledge of SQL an asset;
  • Teamwork;
  • Autonomy and curiosity;
  • Fluency in French and English, both oral and written.

*Professional working proficiency in French and English languages required as position involves frequent written and oral communication on complex matters with internal and external parties in both languages.
