The News Service at Radio-Canada is seeking a Radio Journalist based in Montreal.

As a journalist, you will produce reports and feature stories, as well as deliver live segments for news bulletins, programs, and the News Service’s platforms. You may be required to work in the field to gather information and present it in accordance with Journalistic Standards and Practices. You will need to demonstrate creativity and originality while meeting tight deadlines.

This is a permanent part-time position of three (3) days per week. As an indication, the selected candidate will initially work a schedule that includes weekends, from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. The third day will be assigned based on newsroom needs, which may include writing and research duties.

The schedule may eventually change depending on operational requirements.

This role requires full-time on-site presence.

Desired Profile:

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent.

  • Three (3) years of experience in journalism or equivalent.

Skills:

  • Experience preparing news reports for radio.

  • Experience delivering live radio segments.

  • Proven ability in field reporting and knowledge of newsroom production.

  • Broad general knowledge.

  • In-depth understanding of municipal, political, and social news in Quebec, Canada, and internationally.

  • Interest in developing digital formats.

  • Proficiency in the working language: French.

  • Intermediate-level English skills (spoken, written, and reading) (BBB).

  • Good knowledge of the Dalet system.

  • Ability to work under pressure; strong initiative.

  • Strong editorial judgment.

  • Knowledge of the Corporation’s Journalistic Standards and Practices.

Additional Requirements:

  • Availability and willingness to work irregular hours and travel for field assignments.

  • Valid driver’s license and a driving record that meets CBC/Radio-Canada’s insurance requirements.

Selected candidates will be required to complete:

  • Journalism tests.

  • Practical test.

  • Interview.
