Job Description

RESEARCH INSTITUTE OF THE MUHC

The Research Institute of the McGill University Health Centre (RI-MUHC) is a world-renowned biomedical and hospital research centre. Located in Montreal, Quebec, the Institute is the research arm of the McGill University Health Centre (MUHC) affiliated with the Faculty of Medicine at McGill University. The RI-MUHC is supported in part by the Fonds de recherche du Québec - Santé (FRQS).

Position summary

Department / Research Program: Cancer Research Program
Under the direction of the immediate supervisor, participates in the collection and processing of various clinical research samples for clinical research biobanks (Quebec Pancreas Cancer Study, PRECEDE Study). Also participates in the management of the mouse colony and related animal experiments, as well as a variety of tasks according to established methodology to support research projects and experiments.

General Duties

  • Collection and processing of human biosamples (blood, tissue) and maintaining associated records and data.
  • Participation in mouse colony management and related animal experiments.
  • Participation in the execution of various laboratory projects and experiments.

Education / Experience

Education: Diploma of College Studies (DEC)
Field of Study: Biochemistry, physiology, histology, microbiology, immunology or molecular biology

Work Experience: Work experience in a clinical laboratory or clinical trials an asset, work experience with animals an asset.

Required Skills

  • Knowledge of French is required.
  • An advanced knowledge of oral and written English is required, as the position requires regular and complex contact with researchers or international students who are exclusively proficient in English.

  • Attention to detail and accuracy,
