Job Description

RESEARCH INSTITUTE OF THE MUHC
The Research Institute of the McGill University Health Centre (RI-MUHC) is a world-renowned biomedical and hospital research centre. Located in Montreal, Quebec, the Institute is the research arm of the McGill University Health Centre (MUHC) affiliated with the Faculty of Medicine at McGill University. The RI-MUHC is supported in part by the Fonds de recherche du Québec - Santé (FRQS).

Position summary
Department / Research Program: IDIGH

The Project Manager is responsible for supporting the strategic planning of a clinical research initiative under the supervision of the Principal Investigator. Translate a ‘bench to bedside’ clinical research initiative into a comprehensive, multi-year roadmap with the support of the Principal Investigator and their research team. This role focuses on the design of the program’s structural framework, the identification of operational milestones, and the alignment of future project goals with institutional and funding requirements.

General Duties
Under the direction of the Principal Investigator, the incumbent:
• Supports the development of a strategic plan to organize the progression of a novel ‘bench to bedside’ clinical research initiative in the field of IBD,
• Sets up the organizational structure and workflows required to support the program's long-term stability and future research activities,
• Identifies potential funding sources and supports the progress of the research phase to development phase,
• Liaise with the lab manager and research team to ensure the strategic plan aligns with laboratory operations,
• Supports the development of a plan for the life-cycle of the initiative including ensuring the clinical research conforms to regulatory, ethics and institutional policies,
• Accomplishes any other related tasks as required by the immediate supervisor.

Education: Bachelor's Degree
Field of Study: Science or related field

Work Experience: Minimum five (5) years

Required Skills

• Knowledge of French is required.
• An advanced knowledge of oral and written English is required, as the position requires regular and complex contact with researchers or international students who are exclusively proficient in English. The position also requires complex writing or in-depth analysis of documents in English related to a research project.

• Strategic Planning: Ability to break down a long-term vision into clear, manageable milestones,
• Collaboration & Relationship Building: Strong interpersonal skills for working effectively alongside lab managers and research staff in a supportive and collaborative capacity,
• Communication: Ability to interact effectively with stakeholders, funding sources, and navigate the institutional landscape,
• Time-Management: Effectively work within time-lines and in an organized fashion.
