Job Description

RESEARCH INSTITUTE OF THE MUHC

The Research Institute of the McGill University Health Centre (RI-MUHC) is a world-renowned biomedical and hospital research centre. Located in Montreal, Quebec, the Institute is the research arm of the McGill University Health Centre (MUHC) affiliated with the Faculty of Medicine at McGill University. The RI-MUHC is supported in part by the Fonds de recherche du Québec - Santé (FRQS).

Position summary

Department / Research Program: Cancer Research Program

Under the supervision of students and fellows, the incumbent will contribute with general laboratory maintenance and perform basic molecular and cell biology experiments.

General Duties

  • Assist students and postdoctoral fellows with experimental procedures (, cell culture, molecular biology assays, sample processing) in a functional genomics research setting focused on pediatric solid tumors,
  • Perform basic animal work under supervision, including handling, monitoring, and assisting with procedures such as drug administration and sample collection in accordance with ethical guidelines,
  • Perform general laboratory duties, including cleaning and organizing workspaces, preparing common solutions, waste disposal, and maintaining shared equipment,
  • Manage laboratory operations such as inventory tracking, ordering supplies, and ensuring compliance with safety and animal care protocols to maintain an efficient and well-functioning research environment.

Education / Experience

Education: Diploma of College Studies (DEC)

Work Experience: None

Required Skills

  • Knowledge of French is required.
  • An advanced knowledge of oral and written English is required, as the position requires regular and complex contact with researchers or international students who are exclusively proficient in English.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills,
  • Ability to work independently or with teams with minimum supervision.
