Position Purpose
The Automation Engineer is a senior technical role within Achieve, responsible for delivering highly skilled automation and systems integration support while serving as a local technical owner for clients and operators in Canada.
This role blends mechanical and controls expertise, hands-on problem solving, and client-facing
responsibility. The Automation Engineer is expected to operate as a practical technical resource — capable of stepping into complex environments, diagnosing issues, and personally executing solutions across automation, mechanical, and control systems.
This is a new role, and as such the candidate has a unique opportunity to help craft this position further.
Essential Responsibilities / Accountabilities
Local Client Support & Relationship Management

Serve as the primary technical point of contact for Montreal-based and Canadian clients

Provide on-site and remote support with full ownership of issue resolution

Build and maintain trusted relationships with client technical and operational teams

Act as a calm, capable technical presence in time-critical or high-pressure environments

Coordinate internally to ensure effective support from engineering, software, and project teams
Automation & Systems Integration (Mechanical + Controls)

Integrate, commission, troubleshoot, and modify automation systems in live and production environments
-
Work fluidly across controls, mechanical, electrical, and software teams
-
Most important will be the Interactives and software teams working out of the Montreal office.

Step in wherever required to move work forward, regardless of discipline boundary
-
Navigator Automation platform experience is required, including configuration, troubleshooting and operating.

Prior experience deploying automation systems using Navigator in production environments is strongly preferred
-
Produce system documentation, diagrams, and operational guides as needed
Montreal Technical Operations
-
Oversee day-to-day technical operation of the Montreal black box and production environments
-
Manage technical scheduling, readiness, and configuration of shared spaces
-
Maintain equipment storage, inventory, and documentation
-
Ensure system reliability through testing, preventive maintenance, and troubleshooting
-
Adapt environments to support concurrent projects, R&D, and client activity
Canadian Field Integration Support

Provide on-site automation and integration support to interactive venues across North America and Canada
-
Support commissioning, upgrades, troubleshooting, and handover activities
-
Provide secondary support to Touring and cruise ship projects as required

Represent TAIT independently and professionally in field environments
Quality Assurance & Engineering Support

Configure real-world hardware/software environments to support engineering and QA testing

Support third-party hardware integration and validation

Provide structured feedback to engineering teams based on field experience

Qualifications & Experience
Education

High School Diploma or GED required
-
Technical, engineering or entertainment education preferred
Experience
-
7+ years in automation, controls, or technical integration roles within entertainment or live environments

Demonstrated experience working hands-on with both mechanical and control systems

Navigator Automation platform experience required

Client-facing experience in high-expectation environments
-
Willingness to travel within Canada as required
