UX/UI Specialist (Contract) — Valnet Tech Brands

About Valnet Tech

Valnet is seeking a UX/UI Specialist (Contract) to help shape intuitive, high-performing digital experiences across our portfolio of brands.

Role Overview

We’re looking for a contract UX Specialist to help shape and improve the user experience across Valnet Tech brands and internal products.

You’ll work hands-on across research, interaction design, UX writing, and usability testing—bringing clarity to complex problems and delivering practical, measurable improvements.

This contract role is ideal for someone who can balance reader experience, editorial needs, and business goals—and who thrives in a fast-paced environment with multiple brands, stakeholders, and experiments running in parallel.

What We’re Looking For

UX Strategy & Execution

  • Identify UX opportunities across multiple brand sites and internal tools (e.g., CMS, editorial workflows, publishing features).
  • Turn product goals and user needs into clear UX recommendations, flows, wireframes, and prototypes.
  • Contribute to UX standards, patterns, and reusable components to improve consistency across brands.

Research & Insights

  • Plan and run lightweight research: usability tests, surveys, heuristic reviews, competitive reviews, and analytics-informed UX audits.
  • Translate findings into actionable insights, user stories, and prioritized recommendations.
  • Build and maintain a simple research repository (learnings, recordings, patterns, and outcomes).

Design Collaboration

  • Partner with product managers, engineers, editorial stakeholders, and ad ops to design solutions that are feasible and high-impact.
  • Provide UX guidance during implementation: review builds, ensure interaction quality, and flag issues early.
  • Work closely with UI/design system stakeholders to ensure experiences are clean, accessible, and scalable.

Optimization & Experimentation Support

  • Support A/B tests and iterative improvements across navigation, templates, layouts, content modules, and conversion points.
  • Define UX success metrics (engagement, scroll depth, retention, task completion, reduced friction) and track outcomes post-launch.
  • Improve accessibility and performance-related UX (readability, hierarchy, mobile usability, mobile-first usability, Core Web Vitals awareness).

Skills We’re Looking For

  • 2–5 years of UX experience (or equivalent) working on web products, content platforms, or high-traffic digital experiences.
  • Strong understanding of UX fundamentals: information architecture, user flows, interaction design, and usability principles.
  • Ability to conduct and synthesize user research into clear recommendations.
  • Comfort working with product and engineering teams in a delivery-focused environment.
  • Proficiency with modern UX tools (Figma preferred) for wireframes, prototypes, and documentation.
  • Strong communication skills—able to explain UX decisions and tradeoffs to non-design stakeholders.
  • Experience contributing to or working with design systems.
  • Familiarity with analytics tools (GA4, Looker, etc.) and experimentation frameworks.

Feel Free To Include

  • Portfolio of work
  • Client Testimonials
  • Anything related to your experience in the industry

We will get back to you as soon as possible if we think you'd make a solid addition to the team.

We look forward to collaborating with positive and inspired candidates.
