As Canada continues to expand, GlobalStep is hiring a talented, qualified QA Manager to join our Montreal team. You will set quality best practices and lead the processes and tools that ensure quality goals are met from the first design document to the final release checklist. You will also manage a team of QA specialists, mentor them, and drive professional success.
Responsibilities
Client Management
- Manage multiple client/project portfolios focused on functional QA and compliance, with additional services as needed.
- Build and nurture relationships with client personnel.
- Own client account management and set client expectations.
- Lead proposal efforts and scope definition when required.
- Conduct cross-sell of client services when appropriate.
- Provide regular project status reporting to the management team.
- Own project post-mortem calls with the client at project completion.
Team Leadership
- Deliver comprehensive project team briefings.
- Track project progress in collaboration with project teams.
- Implement process changes and improvements.
- Host weekly project status meetings with the team.
- Plan, apply, and adapt project test strategies with project manager support.
- Manage, direct, and motivate project managers.
Training & Mentoring
- Drive team development and skill assessments.
- Ensure training programs are designed based on identified skill gaps.
- Measure training effectiveness and refine programs for maximum impact.
- Coach and train new project managers.
- Provide real-time performance feedback to managers.
- Maintain training modules and update documentation.
Project Management Oversight
- Review project gaps and issues with project managers and resolve them timely.
- Track project progress against milestones and requirements.
- Act as primary contact for internal project inquiries.
- Resolve conflicts/issues and hand off to others when appropriate.
Project Health & KPIs
- Own project success across all clients.
- Own KPI ownership (design, institutionalization, tracking, improvement) for all client/project portfolios.
- Collect and analyze KPI data across projects and maintain organization-wide metrics.
- Implement client or project learning and best practices across all projects.
Qualifications & Education
- 8+ years QA experience, 3+ years in the game industry.
- 4+ years team management experience.
- Expertise in varied testing methodologies: compatibility, performance, UX, regression, acceptance.
- Experience managing bug defect solutions and creating test plans.
- Strong communication in English and French (written & verbal).
- Passion for gaming – both playing and building.
- Own full QA spectrum in functional service lines.
- Define QA processes and identify necessary tools & technology.
- Plan headcount and global test strategy.
- Internal advocate and spokesperson for all QA acquisition.
- Communicate issues, risks, concerns, and successes to stakeholders.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to finalize test plans.
- Facilitate communication with other managers.
- Represent QA interests to the leadership group.
- Work closely with team members in a small, agile, collaborative environment.
- Coach and mentor project managers in their roles.
- Maintain tools and documentation used by the department.
- Communicate with clients and manage partnerships.
