Job Overview
The Research Institute of the McGill University Health Centre (RI-MUHC) is a world‑renowned biomedical and hospital research centre located in Montreal, Quebec. The Perioperative Care and Outcomes Research (PCOR) lab at the RI‑MUHC Centre for Outcomes Research and Evaluation (CORE) seeks a Research Assistant to support innovative, patient‑centered strategies to measure postoperative outcomes, assess the comparative effectiveness of contemporary interventions, and develop approaches to reduce harms associated with perioperative care interventions.
Responsibilities
- Work with the Principal Investigator and Research Coordinator in designing, conducting, and managing multi‑center randomized controlled trials (e.g., PAIN‑Alt Trial) and other research studies.
- Obtain informed consent, recruit participants, and manage data collection documents.
- Collect and process qualitative and quantitative data.
- Conduct literature reviews.
- Assist training and oversight of students and research personnel.
- Coordinate team meetings and maintain communication with stakeholders.
- Act as liaison with clinical services and community partners.
- Perform administrative duties related to the research program.
- Assist in preparing reports, manuscripts, and grant applications.
Qualifications
- Master’s Degree in Health Sciences, Epidemiology, or related field; equivalent clinical research experience accepted for applicants without a master’s.
- Ability to work in person at Montreal General Hospital and relocate to other affiliated hospitals as required.
- Excellent communication, organization, and project management skills.
- Experience with clinical research design, conduct, analysis, and reporting.
- Superior English written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in French.
- Experience with randomized controlled trials or multi‑center studies is desirable.
- Knowledge of statistics (SPSS, SAS, Stata, R) and data management using REDCap preferred.
- Experience with scientific writing (manuscripts, grant applications) is desirable.

Compensation and Work Site
Pay Scale: $49,722.40 – $92,346.80 (commensurate with education and experience)
Work Shift: Monday to Friday 9:00 am – 5:00 pm
Work Site: Montreal General Hospital, 1650 Cedar Ave.
Status: Temporary, full‑time (35‑hour week)
