Overview
McCarthy Tétrault is a Canadian law firm offering a full suite of legal and business solutions. We are recruiting a Bilingual Events Specialist in our Montreal office to plan and execute business development events across Canada.
Responsibilities
- Research, develop, plan, and execute client events aligned with the firm's strategic direction.
- Liaise with stakeholders, management, and vendors; negotiate contracts; select venues or virtual platforms (Zoom, WebEx, Teams).
- Manage budgets, create timelines, and project manage events; coordinate materials, invitations, RSVPs, onsite staffing, AV requirements, and catering.
- Develop and maintain guest lists of clients and prospects; produce detailed event summaries and reports (pre and post) to track attendance, budget, and ROI.
- Collaborate with lawyers, legal assistants, and Markets stakeholders to deliver strategic event planning advice on venues, technology, pacing, and formats.
- Provide regular event updates to the Communications team for the firm's intranet and external website; maintain event campaigns in Salesforce in real time.
- Support planning and execution of client-facing conferences, professional development seminars, and special events (in-person, virtual, hybrid) with a focus on the Ontario region.
- Contribute to Clients and Markets initiatives, special projects, and National Events team projects as required.
Qualifications
- Post-secondary education in business, marketing, communications, or a diploma in event planning (asset).
- Minimum four years of full-cycle event planning experience in corporate, hospitality, or not-for-profit environments.
- Bilingualism (French and English) is a requirement; additional fluency is an asset.
- Professional designation (CMP, DES, VEMM, PMP) is an asset.
- Experience with virtual event platforms, legal or professional services firms, Salesforce or other CRM software, and superior organizational skills.
- Strong client service approach, creative vision, initiative, attention to detail, and ability to handle multiple concurrent projects.
