Team Overview

EDC is seeking a Director of Policy & Research for the Sustainability Team. The role will strengthen environmental & social (E&S) risk management practices, managing policies, standards, and research.

What You Will Be Doing

  • Lead development, implementation and oversight of EDC’s ESRM policy suite and E&S positions
  • Draft and issue insights papers on key E&S trends
  • Advise VPs and Senior Executives on E&S risk management, emerging topics, and policy implications
  • Identify public policy trends, regulatory impacts and anticipate emerging challenges
  • Provide research and analysis to internal stakeholders
  • Engage on development of international best practices and standards
  • Update, maintain and develop E&S risk management models
  • Support complex financing transactions on due diligence
  • Collaborate across business and corporate functions on E&S objectives and delivery
  • Support content in human rights and climate reports, integrated annual report
  • Work with Director of Climate and Sustainable Finance and Global Risk Management teams
  • Manage development of human rights and environmental metrics and public reporting
  • Engage with external stakeholders and Civil Society Organizations
  • Educate employees and management on E&S topics
  • Establish team priorities, plans, monitor progress, identify gaps and execute corrective actions

What We Are Looking For

  • Minimum undergraduate degree in Policy, Human Rights, Environmental Science, Business or related field
  • 10+ years in policy or risk function, preferably in the financial sector
  • Experience leading E&S risk management within a large organization
  • Experience leading cross‑functional working groups on policy, research and risk management deliverables
  • Strong project management skills
  • Minimum 5 years of organizational leadership experience
  • Excellent relationship and influence management skills with senior leadership
  • Strong interpersonal skills, inspiring, motivating team
  • Ability to adjust milestones and targets
  • Strong communication skills (verbal, presentation)
  • Bilingual in both official languages (English & French)

What Will Make You Stand Out

  • Master’s degree in Sustainability, Human Rights, Environmental / Climate, Finance or equivalent
  • MBA
  • Experience with climate and sustainable finance frameworks (TCFD, SBTi, NGFS, ICMA Principles)
  • Understanding of sustainable finance frameworks (green, social, sustainability, transition, KPI) across issuers
  • Understanding of climate accounting frameworks (PCAF, GHG Protocol)
