Job Summary

The Intern, Operational Technology (OT) - Onboard & Network Technology is responsible for working with CN’s OT Systems including Automated Train Inspection (ATI) program, Locomotive Onboard Systems (LOBS), Wayside systems and the Data Management of the information generated by these systems. The Intern Operational Technology Developer will be tasked with the development of automation to enable continuous improvement of OT deliverables, development and delivery of OT solutions, development and evaluation of the Machine Learning (ML) and Computer Vision pipelines and development of automated data solutions between Operational Technology and the cloud. The Intern Operational Technology Developer will be required to work with Solution Architects, RAMS Engineers, System Designers, Data Scientists, MLOps, DevOps teams across both the lifecycle of system development and of data management.

Main Responsibilities

  • Define and develop applications and services
  • Define, develop Unit Test code aligned with specifications and standards
  • Participate in test planning and execution
  • Participate in designing and implementing data warehousing solutions
  • Assist in building and maintaining data pipelines for real-time and batch processing
  • Support Data Scientist and ML Developer on the design and development of ML Solutions
  • Apply and ensure compliance with appropriate CN Information and Technology (I&T) standards, including Security, Architecture, Project Delivery Methodology, Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX), Telecom, and Software Engineering
  • Conduct code reviews and ensure coding standards

Requirements

  • Proficient in programming languages such as Python, C++, Java, or SQL and familiarity with tools like Spark.
  • Familiarity with database management systems (MySQL, PostgreSQL) and Data Lake concepts.
  • Knowledge of DL frameworks such as Pytorch, Tensorflow, and Keras
  • Knowledge with Linux Operating systems configuration and scripting
  • Knowledge of Agile Development Operations and concepts related to continuous integration and pipeline management
  • Knowledge of Computer Vision for Objects Detection, Segmentation, and Classification

Education

  • Working toward a Bachelor’s Degree, Master’s Degree or Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, ML or a related field of study.
  • Any experience / education / skills / knowledge for these above would be considered as an asset
