As the Business Development Director, you are a strategic leader responsible for driving growth and expanding market presence within the construction sector. Working in the senior leadership team at Pomerleau Construction, you will develop key account strategies that support the achievement of the business plan. You will have the opportunity to work closely with Operations and Regional Leadership to continue propelling Pomerleau forward.

Responsibilities

Market Expansion:

Leading efforts to enter new markets and sectors, leveraging industry insights and competitive analysis. Develop and maintain extensive knowledge of core markets and how to position Pomerleau’s services to help clients achieve their goals. Present market data and opportunities for “Go / No Go” decisions in Business Development meetings. Position Pomerleau as the contractor of choice by gathering information about upcoming opportunities and building a robust pipeline aligned with the strategic plan.

Client Engagement:

Build and nurture long-term relationships with key stakeholders, including developers, architects, engineers, and government agencies. Develop a network of contacts within the assigned region and market segments. Prospect for new clients via web-based services, government publications, news articles, industry events, cold calling, and other methods.

Strategic Partnerships:

Identify and negotiate partnerships that enhance service offerings and create mutual value. Develop key account strategies that support the achievement of the strategic business plan. Formulate and review “Win” strategies with operations to improve success rate, profitability, and market position.

Revenue Growth:

Develop and execute business strategies that drive profitability and align with corporate goals.

Team Leadership:

Collaborate with cross-functional teams including estimating, project management, and operations to ensure seamless project delivery and client satisfaction. Work with Operations and Regional Leadership to convert prospects into opportunities by facilitating pre-qualifications.

Systems Management:

Enter and maintain accurate sales information within Salesforce to support the sales funnel for new business. Participate in proposals and help articulate a win strategy to prospective clients. Manage Business Development processes as defined in the organization.

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary diploma or degree in a related field (construction management, architecture, engineering or business) is required;
  • 10+ years’ experience in the construction industry;
  • 5+ years’ experience in Business Development;
  • Proven ability to establish profitable relationships with decision-makers at companies and organizations;
  • Experience with the preconstruction process;
  • Firm understanding of the risk and rewards related to all construction procurement models (CCDC) in public and private sectors;
  • Ability to obtain a Government of Canada Secret Clearance;
  • Strong ability to build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders;
  • Exceptional leadership skills and ability to work in a collaborative team environment;
  • Well-established personal brand with private and public clients, local consultants, and a respected reputation in the construction industry;
  • Willingness to engage in industry events beyond typical working hours;
  • Proactive in maintaining relationships with potential future clients;
  • Extensive experience with CRM systems;
  • Strong network of local clients and consultants and ongoing participation in industry committees and professional associations;

Fluency in both official languages (French / English) is a strong asset.
