The Canadian Air Transport Security Authority (CATSA) is a Crown corporation at the front line of Canada’s national security, safeguarding the traveling public through the effective and efficient screening of airport workers, air travelers and baggage at 89 airports nationwide. CATSA’s goal is to provide a professional, effective and consistent level of service across the country, and that the travelling public and CATSA’s partners benefit from the most secure aviation security screening service and the best client experience.
CATSA’s Technology Branch has embarked on an exciting period of transformation and growth. It is seeking a strategic technology leader to take on the role of
Vice President and Chief Technology Officer (CTO).
Reporting to the President & CEO, the CTO oversees all matters relating to the planning, evaluation, deployment and operation of airport security screening equipment / operational technology (OT) and information technology (IT) for CATSA. Building on the organization’s considerable strengths to shape and drive CATSA’s technology vision and strategy across both OT and IT domains, the CTO leads a team of over 100 individuals that ensure seamless integration and alignment of technology with CATSA’s strategic objectives and stakeholder needs.
Role and Responsibilities
- Lead the planning, evaluation, deployment and operation of airport security screening equipment / operational technology (OT) and information technology (IT) for CATSA.
- Drive CATSA’s technology vision and strategy across OT and IT domains, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives and stakeholder needs.
- Lead a team of over 100 professionals, fostering a culture of collaboration, inclusion, and integrity.
- Manage large-scale change management initiatives across complex, operational environments and public policy-influenced resource priorities.
Qualifications
- 15+ years of progressive technology leadership experience, ideally in highly operational, secure, mission-critical environments.
- Proven track record in leading large-scale change management initiatives and managing large, diverse teams in both OT and IT domains.
- Strong team-building skills and ability to foster a positive, respectful culture built on collaboration, inclusion, and integrity.
- Experience in strategic technology planning and implementation projects, aligning organizational skills and capacity with future needs.
- Highly developed business and operations skills; familiarity with complex organizations where public policy defines resources and priorities.
- Strong ability to communicate with and influence senior leadership, linking technology initiatives to operational imperatives and strategic goals.
