z / OS System Programming Engineer — Lead I - Software Engineering

You Are :

UST is seeking a z / OS System Programming Engineer who will creatively develop applications and select technical options to optimize development, maintenance, and performance by applying design patterns and reusing proven solutions.

The Opportunity

• Responsible for the design and maintenance of the operating environment that provides technology, stability, and power to meet the Firm's z-platform computing requirements.
• Interpret the application / feature / component design to develop it in accordance with specifications.
• Code, debug, test, document and communicate product / component / feature development stages.
• This position description identifies typical responsibilities; other essential functions may be required.

What You Need

• Expert in zOS internals
• Self-motivated / able to work autonomously
• Strong Catalog management knowledge and experience
• Excellent troubleshooting skills
• Ability to work under production system outage pressure
• Strong USS / OMVS skills
• Experience with z / OS and ISV software installations
• Excellent testing skills (design tests to validate software functionality, robustness, performance)
• HCD / Hardware knowledge
• REXX experience
• Weekend support and on-call rotation
• zOSMF, REST APIs, Kafka, LinuxOne, Ansible, Python and other new zOS technologies is a plus
• Assembler skills for usermod maintenance and dump reading are desirable but not mandatory

Compensation Range :

$95,000-$119,000

Benefits

• Full-time employees accrue a minimum of 10 days of paid vacation per year, 6 days of paid sick leave per year (pro-rated for new hires), paid holidays, and eligibility for paid bereavement leave and jury duty.
• Canada-resident dependents are eligible for Supplemental Healthcare coverage, plus Company-paid Employee Only basic life insurance and accidental death and dismemberment coverage.
• Full-time temporary employees receive 6 days of paid sick leave; Canada-resident dependents may be eligible for supplemental coverage and life / AD&D coverage.
• Part-time regular and temporary employees receive 6 days of paid sick leave (pro-rated).
