Génome Québec is a private non-profit organization established in 2000 to support the strategic and scientific development of genomics by funding research and offering cutting-edge technological services. Its mission also includes supporting the visibility and democratization of genomics. The team works in close collaboration with the scientific community, universities, the private sector, and other partners of the research and innovation ecosystem.

Génome Québec is currently looking for a Business Development Officer to join its team for a 3-year contract.

Mandate

Reporting to the Vice-President, Technological Centers, the selected candidate will lead the growth of our Centre of Expertise and Services (CES), a genomics center providing state-of-the-art sequencing, genotyping, and bioinformatics services. The CES is expanding its scope beyond human health, diversifying into agribusiness, forestry, environment, and other sectors, while strengthening its presence nationally and internationally.

Responsibilities

  • Market development and client acquisition: identify and pursue new business opportunities in Quebec, across Canada, and internationally.
  • Partnership development: build and maintain strong strategic relationships with universities, government agencies, and private companies.
  • Commercial strategy: design and implement go-to-market strategies aligned with client needs and the CES mission.
  • Visibility and outreach: represent the CES at events, increase its visibility, and position it as a trusted partner in genomics.
  • Client engagement: deliver a first-class client experience, from initial contact through to long-term collaboration.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in business administration, marketing, life sciences, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of proven experience in business development, commercialization, or partnership management, ideally in the biotech, life sciences, or technology sectors.
  • Strong experience in B2B marketing, client acquisition, and pipeline management.
  • Proficiency with CRM systems and ability to leverage data to support growth.
  • Strategic mindset and ability to translate scientific advances into clear and compelling value propositions.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills: entrepreneurial mindset, creativity, negotiation, diplomacy, and adaptability.
  • Ability to collaborate across functions and thrive in a dynamic, agile, and fast-growing environment.
  • Scientific knowledge in genomics, biotechnology, or related fields (an asset).
  • Experience collaborating with technical or scientific teams (an asset).
  • Proficiency in French and English, both spoken and written (the position requires regular interactions, orally and in writing, with English-speaking stakeholders in Canada and abroad).
