Job Description
Under the supervision of Dr. Saima Hassan, the research assistant will work in her translational research laboratory in breast cancer. Dr. Hassan's research projects aim to better understand the efficacy of PARP inhibitors, either as single agents or in combination, in breast cancer cell lines, in mice models, or in tissue models derived from breast cancer patients. The research assistant's main responsibility will be collecting blood samples for a multi-modal liquid biopsy project, which has been approved for funding by the New Frontiers Research Fund, Canadian Cancer Society, and Breast Cancer Canada.

Responsibilities
- Skills in molecular biology techniques, including DNA extraction, handling and analysis of patient samples, including blood samples for ctDNA; cell culture, immunohistochemistry, immunofluorescence, flow cytometry, western blots, and mice handling (including surgeries for tumor implantations and drug treatments).
- Skills in lab management tasks.
- Data analysis and project management.
- Will help to teach techniques to graduate and undergraduate students within the lab.
- Writing abstracts, posters/presentations for conferences, and manuscripts in English.
- Collaborative and respectful of lab members, dynamic, efficient, honest, and professional.
- Flexible, concerned about getting the job well done, independent, attentive to detail, very organized.
Qualifications
- Should have completed a MSc.
- Should have a background in cancer research.
- Should have a minimum of one first-authored publication.
- Must have conversational knowledge of French and professional English for writing and speaking.
- Must have good knowledge in speaking and writing French and English.
Status
- Salary according to CRCHUM policies.
- Full-time position, 35 hours per week, daytime from Monday to Friday (with occasional weekends).
- Salary and benefits according to CRCHUM policies.
- Position starts AS SOON AS POSSIBLE, 1-year contract, renewable.
- 20 days of vacation per year after one year.
- 13 statutory holidays.
- 9.6 cash-convertible sick days.
