Job Description
The Canadian economy is in constant evolution. Today, more than ever, interpreting what the data says about the state of the economy can have far-reaching implications for consumers, businesses, and governments. Leveraging unique datasets, Cubeler is seeking an experienced senior economist to provide clients with a weekly pulse of Canadian economic activity. You will join our data science and marketing teams to study and interpret economic activity data, access daily datasets on Canadian private companies (sales, cash balances, inventory levels, expenses, etc.) from sectors such as retail, construction, real estate, and manufacturing, and develop forecasts and weekly client reports.
What You’ll Do
- Analyze and interpret daily datasets received from the Cubeler business development platform
- Conduct research and analyze economic data from external sources to understand trends and impacts
- Develop economic models to forecast future economic conditions
- Evaluate the effects of government policies, regulations, and external factors on economic performance
- Produce weekly reports, using templates, to communicate findings to stakeholders
- Collaborate with statisticians and policy analysts to gather data and develop comprehensive analyses
- Stay updated on economic developments and relevant legislation
What You’ll Need
- Master's or Ph.D. in Economics or a related field
- Strong analytical and quantitative skills
- Proficiency in statistical software (e.g., Stata, R, SAS)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Bilingual (French / English)
- Ability to work independently and in teams
Preferred Skills
- Experience in policy analysis or economic forecasting
- Knowledge of specific industries or sectors (e.g., retail, manufacturing)
