Role and team

The Bilingual Translator, Administrative Services will be part of the national team working with lawyers and professionals across Canada. The role involves translating materials in English or French for clients who understand only one of these languages. Bilingualism (French and English) is a requirement for this position.

Responsibilities

  • Translate documents from English into French.
  • Capture the essence of messages so communications read as if written in French, aligning with the Firm’s Vision and Values.
  • Utilize the translation assistant platform and stay updated on new technologies, including Generative AI tools relevant to translation.
  • Assist with bilingual revision of documents as needed.
  • Contribute to term bases and internal Translation Memory through terminology research and document alignment.
  • Manage the intake of translation requests as needed.
  • Perform any other related tasks as required.

Qualifications

  • Completed undergraduate degree in translation.
  • 6-8 years of experience in translation.
  • At least 5 years of experience in a professional services environment.
  • Fully bilingual with strong written and verbal business communication skills in both French and English.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills in both languages; strong understanding of English subtleties.
  • Strong writing skills in French and English.
  • Superior organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks, set priorities, and work under pressure to meet deadlines.
  • Ability and drive to deliver a first-class product.
  • Certified translator (member of OTTIAQ).
  • Knowledge of memoQ is an asset.
