Description

The Decision Lab is an applied behavioral science consulting firm based in Montréal. Our mission is to democratize the insights generated by behavioral insights to help people live better lives. We’re a young company, but we punch above our weight: in the past, we’ve worked with partners like the Gates Foundation, Capital One, and the World Bank, using scientific thinking to tackle some of the thorniest problems of our day.

Everything we do at TDL is guided by SPICE: S ocially conscious, P ragmatic, I nventive, C atalytic, and E vidence-based. You can read more about us and our core values here.

Pourquoi ce rôle est important pour TDL

We’re not looking for a “pixel pusher.” We’re looking for a Sr. Product Designer —someone who thrives at the intersection of UX, UI and strategy.

Our team goes beyond screens: we design products, yes, but we create systems, workshops, toolkits, communications, and experiences that create change and solve complex problems. That means we’re looking for a problem solver first, designer second —a person who can bring clarity, creativity, and evidence-driven thinking to challenges of all shapes and sizes.

Pourquoi ce rôle est génial pour vous

The Decision Lab is a place where you can learn to use evidence-based approaches to solve diverse & complex challenges. You will work alongside intelligent & free-thinking colleagues who lead with optimism, pragmatism and empathy. Rather than reusing the same behavior change frameworks, TDL develops custom solutions – this means that in addition to being evidence-based, your role will be fundamentally creative and you will have the opportunity to evolve and express your thinking in the work you do. Our team helps and empowers each other and we have a rich set of tools and frameworks that you will be exposed to, but you will ultimately be responsible for your work – past hires tell us they are surprised to what extent they are able to take intellectual ownership of the projects they work on.

Ce que vous ferez

  • Own the end-to-end design process —from research and strategy to wireframes, prototypes, user testing, and delivery.
  • Translate research and behavioral insights into actionable design solutions and interventions that are both evidence-based and intuitive.
  • Create visual interfaces while building experiences that balance form and function.
  • Work beyond product screens: make research insights tangible, design workshop experiences, and create compelling communication tools.
  • Lead clients and colleagues through design decisions—explaining the why with clarity and confidence.
  • Drive projects forward by clarifying priorities, managing iterations, and ensuring alignment with strategic goals.
  • Collaborate with behavioral scientists and strategists to apply AI ethically in products and processes, ensuring transparency and user trust.

Ce que nous recherchons

  • 5+ years of professional experience blending UX, UI, and design strategy.
  • A portfolio that shows not just polished visuals, but your process and thinking.
  • Experience in conducting and applying research—usability testing, surveys, co-design, and more—to inform decisions.
  • Strong communication skills for both internal collaboration and client-facing conversations.
  • You’re curious about emerging tech and comfortable experimenting with AI to expand the range of design solutions.
  • Comfort with ambiguity, non-hierarchical organizations, and environments where everyone’s voice matters.
  • Enthusiasm for behavioral design (or willingness to learn).
  • Have experience in the health space, or designing with equity and inclusion at the forefront.
  • Bring a graphic or visual design background—skilled at making complex ideas simple and compelling.
  • Thrive at working with diverse roles and perspectives, using collaboration as a way to push projects forward and raise design quality.
  • Eager to introduce new practices to improve design maturity.
  • A jack of many trades who can move fluidly between research, strategy, and design execution.
  • Evidence-driven, not ego-driven—you let testing, iteration, and impact guide your choices.
  • Adaptable, collaborative, and excited to design in contexts where the challenge isn’t always a screen.
  • Motivated by creating solutions that make a difference—not just products that “look good.”

À propos du rôle

  • 6m contract role with the possibility of renewal and/or permanent position.
  • Remote position (with at least 80% overlap with Montreal timezone).
