The School of Chemistry teaches more than 2000 undergraduate students each year from many different faculties and offers four undergraduate programs leading to majors in chemistry, taught in five specialized laboratories.
The Research Associate contributes to research on electrochemical aptamer-based sensors as part of an ARC funded Laureate project. This role performs fundamental electrochemical research on developing electrodes that can provide insights into sensor development and potential commercialization.
Note: THERE ARE X2 ROLES AVAILABLE. BOTH ARE LOCATED IN SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA.
About The Role
- Salary: 113K - $121K plus 17% Superannuation and annual leave loading
- Fixed Term – 12 months
- Full-time (35 hours per week)
The role reports to Scientia Professor Justin Gooding and has no direct reports.
Specific Responsibilities For This Role Include
- Conduct research in electrochemistry and biosensors.
- Perform and supervise experiments in electrochemical aptamer-based sensors.
- Maintain detailed laboratory notebooks.
- Complete experiments and analyze results on time.
- Write and publish scientific papers and reports.
- Contribute to research proposals and industry collaborations.
- Coordinate research activities and contribute to research outputs.
- Present results at conferences.
- Train PhD and honours students.
- Adhere to the university’s Code of Conduct and safety policies.
About The Successful Applicant
- A PhD in electrochemistry.
- Ability to develop electrochemical surface characterization procedures.
- Experience with electrochemical measurements and materials synthesis.
- Experience in research and training students.
- Proven research output and conference presentations.
- Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills.
- Effective communication with diverse stakeholders.
- Commitment to UNSW’s values and safety policies.
