Position Summary : Automation Programmer

Works with a team to complete mandates in food plant engineering related to food processing (heat exchangers, CIP, sanitary pumps, control valves), utility support systems, and packaging lines (conveyors, bottling, labeling, palletizing, packing, stretch wrapping, machine safety, productivity analysis). This role may involve programming or broader project management. Fluency in French is required, and bilingualism in French and English is an asset to communicate effectively with a wide range of stakeholders, including clients, partners, and colleagues outside Quebec. Travel is required to supervise installations across North America.

Main Responsibilities

  • Conduct site surveys
  • Program PLCs : Allen Bradley, Schneider, Siemens
  • Develop GUI interfaces for HMIs : Allen Bradley, Wonderware, Inductive Automation Ignition, Schneider, Siemens
  • Operate SCADA systems : Allen Bradley, Wonderware, Intellution iFix, Inductive Automation Ignition
  • Perform system commissioning
  • Inspect control panels
  • Provide client support for delivered systems
  • Support production
  • Assist electrical designers
  • Support construction and commissioning sites

Requirements, Experience & Skills

  • Diploma (DEC, AEC, BAC) in Automation & Control, Electronics Technology, Industrial Electronics, or equivalent
  • At least 5 years of relevant programming experience, preferably in consulting engineering or plant project management in the food industry
  • Proficient with MS Office, PLC programming, SCADA, maintenance software; AutoCAD is an asset
  • Knowledge of NEC and CEC electrical codes and regulations
  • Valid passport, driver’s license, and ability to travel in Canada and the US
  • Ability to interact directly with clients
