The Opportunity

We are currently looking for a Translator to join our Operations team for 2 months with the possibility of extension. The successful candidate will play a vital role in supporting the Translation Manager by assisting with the day-to-day of translation projects, ensuring high-quality, accurate, and timely translations.

Responsibilities

• Provide accurate English-to-French translations of documents and materials related to the firm's business needs across various departments and/or practice groups.
• Review and proofread texts translated by external resources to ensure they meet quality standards and align with the firm's requirements.
• Maintain and update bilingual glossaries and translation memory databases.
• Conduct research to validate the use of specific terminology in various texts and contribute to the ongoing development of the department's terminology database.
• Assist the Translation Manager with organizing and tracking translation projects, ensuring deadlines are met and quality standards are maintained.
• Other duties may be assigned or amended as required.

Qualifications, Competencies And Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Translation, Linguistics, or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience in translation, preferably within a legal or professional services environment.
• Proficiency in French and English.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality work.
• Familiarity with translation technologies and tools, such as MemoQ or Trados.
• Excellent organizational and project management skills to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Optional: Member of the OTTIAQ (Ordre des traducteurs, terminologues et interprètes agréés du Québec).
