Product Designer Job Description
Responsibilities :
- Create, develop, and execute products aligned with the initial fashion concept and merchandise strategy.
- Develop assortments from concept to reality, ensuring they match the brand image and customer profile.
- Research fabric, yarn, and trim trends, projecting fashion essentials and silhouettes seasonally.
- Collaborate with buyers and production managers to develop fashion-forward, salable products that enhance the brand and meet profit goals.
- Be financially responsible for sales and profit outcomes of your product lines.
- Travel to fabric trade shows, markets, and retail landscapes to identify suitable materials and styles.
- Conduct research using online trend services and retail sources; prepare presentation boards to communicate ideas to senior team members.
- Express your point of view to educate team members on commodity specifics and gain buy-in.
- Interpret fashion forecasts in line with merchandise planning and customer preferences, using samples and fashion tear sheets.
- Meet development timelines for each collection phase.
- Develop products and initiate tech pack processes, ensuring all details are accurately documented and timely.
- Coordinate the hand-off of tech packs to technical designers and production managers, outlining garment needs.
- Edit the product line collaboratively with senior designers, VP of Design, and buyers, communicating changes to production teams.
- Maintain retail samples for presentations, fittings, and concept reviews.
- Create style boards illustrating silhouettes, colors, fabrics, and patterns.
- Provide clear and timely communication to the design team, buyers, and production managers.
- Participate in fit approvals, ensuring aesthetic and technical standards are met.
Qualifications :
- 2-5 years of experience in fashion design.
- Degree in fashion design or related field.
- Proven passion for fashion and customer needs.
- Proficiency in Photoshop, Illustrator, Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Experience working with recognized brands.
