DFC strives to create stable conditions for the dairy sector in our country. It also seeks to maintain policies that promote the sustainability of Canadian dairy production and promote dairy products and their health benefits. We are currently seeking a Specialist, Social Media to join our team based in Ottawa or Montreal.
Job Summary
Reporting to the Manager, Strategic Communications, the Specialist, Social Media develops social media plans for various audiences, recommends, builds, deploys, and executes communication strategies for social media platforms. The incumbent specializes in content curation, managing online interactions, and advancing positive exposure opportunities.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Develop and publish content (texts, photos, videos, gifs, stories, etc.) on social networks and digital platforms.
- Maintain editorial and social media calendars in collaboration with DFC’s departments.
- Collaborate with Marketing, Public Affairs, stakeholders, and agencies to ensure cohesive communication.
- Create social media assets aligned with strategic objectives and brand guidelines.
- Develop content based on audience research and internal requirements.
- Monitor and report on social media trends and engagement opportunities.
- Manage online interactions, respond to inquiries, and oversee subscriber databases.
- Create organizational tools like response guides and reports.
- Stay updated with new trends and tools in social media and digital analytics.
- Lead geotargeted campaigns supporting DFC’s advocacy activities.
- Ensure positive brand representation across all social media initiatives.
- Establish KPIs, analyze performance, and recommend improvements.
- Identify emerging discussions and develop response strategies.
- Propose new opportunities and strategies for increased engagement and reach.

- Strong project management and data synthesis skills.
- Excellent communication skills in English and/or French.
- Detail-oriented, organized, and creative.
- Ability to adapt, influence, and work independently.
- Proficiency in graphic design tools like Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, and content management systems such as Drupal.
The Ideal Candidate
- Bachelor’s degree or college diploma in relevant fields.
- Minimum 5 years of relevant experience.
- Experience in social listening, community management, and media monitoring.
- Knowledge of graphic design and visual communication tools.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, Teams/Zoom, SharePoint; willing to learn new platforms.
- Experience in the dairy sector, food industry, agriculture, or advocacy is an asset.
- Knowledge of Canadian politics or bilingualism is an asset.
