Reporting to the Translation Manager, the Translator is responsible for translating, from English to French, a variety of normative texts, notices, decisions, speeches, and other specialized documents, to meet the needs of all the departments, by applying all the standard principles, techniques and processes inherent in the practice of the translator’s profession. The Translator adapts texts as needed, to reflect the reality of Québec’s investment industry. The Translator adapts the language level used to the recipient (specialist or general public). The Translator ensures the coherence of the selected terms and standardizes the terminology used in each text.

Compétences et Aptitudes Clés :
Must-Haves
- University degree in translation
- 2-5 years’ experience in translation in the investment and financial fields
- Excellent knowledge of financial markets terminology
- Mastery of French and English, verbal and written
- Sharp analytical mind and strong aptitude for research, especially in terminological matters
- Excellent organizational skills: ability to set priorities and manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Sense of initiative and good judgment in forecasting needs and obtaining information
- Flexibility and grace when relating to different internal clients
- Ability to work under pressure
- Motivation and discipline
- Positive team spirit
- Proficient in the use of computer tools (computer-assisted translation tools, terminology management software, etc.)
Nice-to-Haves
- Investment or financial industry training or education, an asset
- Legal translation experience, an asset
- Membership in the OTTIAQ, an asset

CIRO is a pan-Canadian organization that oversees all investment dealers and trading activity in marketplaces across Canada. This position requires the ability to communicate with employees in CIRO regional offices and other CIRO stakeholders across Canada. Accordingly, proficiency in both official languages of Canada (French and English) is mandatory. Due to the frequent interactions with internal and external English-speaking members, clients, representatives, firms, Canadian provincial and territorial securities regulators, and employees situated outside of Quebec, the position requires a fully bilingual candidate.
